DEAL WITH BOTH SIDES OF THE EQUATION TO FIND AN ALTERNATE SOLUTION-PART1 G. Amare, April 26, 2020 - This piece is intended to provide some clarifications to Assa Yohannes. However, it is by no means a dialogue between me and the others who shared ideas regarding the topic, originated by Girmay T. Giorgis, Entitled, and 'Appeal to Counter Separation of Tigray.' First of all, many thanks to Assa Yohannes for providing constructive critiques and his thoughtful analysis of the subject matter...
Dictator's Health and Ethiopia's Predicament
The news about the failing health of the dictators in North Korea and Eritrea is intriguing if true. From what we know the news about Isaias Afeworki is fake. However, the news about the North Korean Dictator is plausible. Kim may be dying.
The news about Isaias Afeworki may be fake but there is news about Isaias and Abiy.
Ethiopia is nearly isolated in the Horn of Africa. Abiy and his government are shunned by Djibouti, Kenya, Uganda, and Sudan. In fact, Ethiopia and Sudan are not seeing eye to eye. Both militaries are facing face to face in the border area between Amhara and Sudan. There is a potential this could escalate to a skirmish, according to sources. Abiy's ill-advised role in dismantling IGAD to please Isaias is one of the main reasons for Ethiopia's isolation. Recognizing Ethiopia's weak stand, Isaias Afeworki is also positioning his demoralized army near the Tigrai border. According to sources, though a skirmish is unlikely to happen, Isaias Afeworki may be ready to abandon Abiy if he does not remove Ethiopia's Army from disputed border area as he has requested him to do for a while now.

DR. Tedros won't be President Trump's lamb Yilma Debele 04-22-20 - The year 2020 with its concomitant infectious disease COVID-19 is as maverick as the US President Donald J Trump. 2020 is really so maverick that it skipped the winter bolstering climate change advocates' claim that global warming is a threat to our existence unless controlled. The coronavirus has tested western democracy in such a way that...
US stays away as world leaders agree action on Covid-19 vaccine Global leaders have pledged to accelerate cooperation on a coronavirus vaccine and to share research, treatment and medicines across the globe. But the United States did not take part in the World Health Organization initiative, in a sign of Donald Trump's increasing isolation on the global stage.
Why I have not contributed to the Ethiopian Diaspora Trust Fund Almost two years have now passed since the Prime Minister's impassioned plea. So far, close to 26,000 donors have given $6.2 million, amounting to only 1 percent of the Prime Minister's projection. This is meager fundraising. It may be tempting to blame the diaspora community, but it is time for the Prime Minister to properly evaluate the EDTF's performance, starting with his selection of the Advisory Council. The Prime Minister should not have appointed divisive, controversial figures to the Advisory Council-particularly as chairman.
When we first realize Abiy, not Demeke was about to become the EPRDF chairman, we thought Ethiopia was really entering a new chapter! We never knew who Abiy was except that he was an Oromo! Once Abiy became a PM we asked around to find out who he was. Although we heard and read a lot about him at first we gave him the benefit of the doubt and hoped his coming to power will help the democratization process. We heard Abiy was determined to blur the division between the opposition and EPRDF as he sees both as one dysfunctional camp. True to form he has crippled the opposition camp and destroyed EPRDF. What we did not realize was that Abiy would kill EPRDF and cripple the Opposition at the expense of the Tigrai people and TPLF. We also did not know the crippling of the opposition was to be done by promoting the Al-Mariam's. From the day we heard Al-Mariam was the new kingmaker in town we realized Abiy was not who we had thought at first. For the record, far less in number Tigreans and friends in the diaspora have raised over a million-dollar the last two years to support their people back home! [Aigaforum April 24, 2020]

Mirror in the hall,Did you get my call? Yared Huluf 04-21-20 - One is constantly reminded of, even if one wishes to forget, the material and psychological impacts left behind on both the victims and perpetrators, antinomes they may be, that still linger on unabated to these days. As there has not been a clean break between the oppressors and the oppressed, as was the case with the colonial masters...

THE ART OF WAR: BOOK REVIEW GEZAEE ASEEFA - April 20, 2020 - The Art of War was written by Sun Tzu in China about 2,500 years ago. Sun Tzu was an ordinary man unknown to most people; soon after he wrote The Art of War, he became a famous general. I find it interesting that his writings about war tactics are still perhaps the most prestigious and influential literary works, not only regarding war but also business portfolios and risk management practices all over the world especially in Asia.
