Dr. Duri Mohammed - passed away

Dr. Duri Mohammed - passed away at 12:45am early this morning. He was born in Harar in 1936. He got his first degree from AAU, then his Masters from Berkley in California, & then his PhD from University of Reading - UK... He served AAU as a lecturer, Dean of Economics Dept., & President of AAU. From 1991 - 1996 he was one of the founders of Harari National League and also its President.

During the transitional government, he served as Minister of Economic Development & Planning and Deputy Chair of the then National Economic Council. From 1996 - mid 2000, he was Ethiopia's ambassador's to the United Nations during the Ethio - Eritrea war. 

Dr Duri was also part of the ratification of the constitution.

His burial service will be from 12 noon to 1pm today at the Muslim burial site - past Tor Hailotch & past Netherlands Embassy.

Dr Duri leaves behind his spouse W/ro Hajera and 4 children Munir, Rania, Khalid and Abdul
