Peace and Development Conference on Somali Region of Ethiopia

The Peace and Development Conference on Somali Region of Ethiopia was held from October 16-17, 2010 in Copenhagen.
The conference was attended by the diaspora community of the Somali region of Ethiopia residing in Scandinavian countries and other members of the diaspora invited from the rest of the world.
The community members expressed their full support to the recently signed peace agreement between the government of Ethiopian on one hand and the UWSLF and ONLF on the other.
In the conference representatives of member of the youths, elders and women expressed their unreserved support the peace agreement and promised to do their at most for strengthening of democratic institutions and the promotion of sustainable development in the region.
The conference was graced by the presence and active participation of
- H.E. Abdulfatah Abdullahi, chairman of ESPDP and Minister of Labour and social Affairs of the Federal democratic Republic Of Ethiopia.
- H.E. Abdi mohammed Omar, President of the Somali regional State of Ethiopia.
- H.E. Mohammed Isack, Speaker of the Somali Region parliament.
- H.E. Abdurahman Mohammed, Minister of Trade of the federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
- H.E. Kader Abdi Esmail, Deputy Finance Bureau of the Somali Region of Ethiopia.
The conference was also attended by H.E. Ambassador Berhane Gebre-Christos, Ambassador of Ethiopia to EU and the Benelux Countries, H.E. Ambassador Birhanu Kebede, Ambassador of Ethiopia to UK and Mr.Mekbib Mengesha, Head of Ethiopian Consulate Office in Stockholm.
During the conference the delegates briefed the gathering on political and socio-economic development of the Somali Region of Ethiopia and the country in general.
The conference was attended by participants drawn from cross section of Diaspora community in Europe.
The conference was successfully concluded its deliberation by issuing a final communiqué.
