Close to four hundred members of the Ethiopian Community of Worthington, Minnesota, in a special expression of support to the on-going construction of the Grand Renaissance Dam/GRD/, staged a fund raising event wherein they readily raised Birr.735,000 in terms of direct purchase of Bonds and committed pledges last Sunday, September 4, 2011.
Ethiopians and Ethiopian-Americans who reside in the remote town of Worthington also celebrated the up-coming Ethiopian New Year by staging a unique fund raising event presenting a model Grand Renaissance Dam netting handsome amount of fund accrued from its purchase in open auction ran during the occasion.
Ambassador Mulie Tarekegn, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Embassy of Ethiopia in Washington DC. , made a power-point presentation dealing in depth on the benefits that emanate from the purchase of bonds poised to register a variety of ramifications and benefits on both the individual and the national level.
