A New hospital in Marqaan-Weyne

Wednesday, 29 April 2011-Marqaan-Weyne(Jidbaale):- Those of you who have read our last week’s report which we covered in detail in the subject of education in the city of Maqaan-Weyne, in the Somali region of Ethiopia. We have then promised you to report the health services in Marqaan-Weyne. Therefore our reporter in the region sent us this exclusive report.

In the old regimes that governed here, they have ignored this city and its surrounding environment for development activities, especially the necessary services that the ordinary citizens of Marqaan-Weyne needed and desired to have. It used to be the worse place for health services for example, if one needs emergency aid, that person has to be transported to 60km away from the city either in the city of Buhodle or in the city of Warder. This had had caused death for those who were transported on those cities, of course on their way to those destinations.

There were no health facilities but things are changing now. It is an exciting time in Ethiopia. Where new ways of solving people’s problems have been employed. The election of President Abdi Mohamed Omer of the Somali region of Ethiopia has changed the old way of doing things in this region. As a President of the Somali region of Ethiopia, he is motivating the masses and giving priority to human investment such as social services and education. If one compares the previous regimes and current one, and goes back at least the last hundred years to just one year and half ago, what the government have done in the Somali region of Ethiopia, the overwhelming answer is that the last one and half year wins. Indeed, everyone wins when the government works for the people.

The government of the Somali region of Ethiopia has invested hospital facility in Marqaan-Weyne, right now the completed portion of the hospital is in use, however, other part of the hospital is still under construction but when is completed will be used wisely and effectively by the people of Marqaan-Weyne and surrounding areas . This hospital was much needed here. The Marqaan-Weyne hospital consists of 34 rooms. It has 7 doctors working in this hospital. The hospital’s departments are including general practitioners (medicine), maternity and surgery wards. The people of Marqaan-Weyne are very grateful to the government of Ethiopia, especially the President of the Somali region of Ethiopia, Hon. Abdi Mohamed Omer, for his support and commitment to the people of Marqaan-Weyne. Below is attached picture of parts of the hospital.
