The World Economic Forum for Africa opens in Addis Ababa (May 9 2012)
Head of states, leading international personalities, business leaders and other eminent personalities have been arriving in Addis Ababa for this morning’s opening of the 2012 World Economic Forum.
The 22nd World Economic Forum for Africa has the theme of “Shaping Africa’s Transformation,” and discussions will build on three aspects - Strengthening Africa’s Leadership, Accelerating Investment in Frontier Markets and Scaling Innovation for Shared Opportunities.
President Paul Kagame of Rwanda, President Goodluck Jonathan, of the Republic of Nigeria and President Jakaya Kikwete of Tanzania and President Ismael Omar Guelle of Djibouti arrived yesterday to attend the three day Forum. Others expected this morning include the Deputy Prime Minister of Zimbabwe , Arthur Mutambara, Duual Charles G.Xavier, LUC , Vice Prime Minister of Mauritius and the former Secretary-General of United Nations, Mr. Kofi Anan. More than 700 leaders of business, academia, government, civil society, media and the arts drawn from more than 70 countries will be participating in the discussions of the Forum.
