TDA North America welcomes Nashville branch.
(Aigaforum 06/01/09):- Tigrai Development Association (TDA) which got
started by Diaspora Tigreans in North America some 20 years ago will celebrate its
golden anniversary this coming August in Washington DC. The event which is scheduled
to last from August 14 to 16 will be held on the heels of a very successful
campaign that raised funds to build elementary schools within two mile radius
in all parts of Tigrai. The project centered fund raising campaign which got
started by the Las Vegas chapter in the USA became so successful it led to the
most successful telethon ever done by TDA in Ethiopia. The golden anniversary event organizers calls upon all former members and supporters to join the event.
Continuing on such success story Tigreans and friends in Nashville, USA, established a new TDA North America chapter. Aite Mulugeta Berhe community affairs and long time TPLF member and Dr Teodros Tadesse TDA NA chair person were present during the general meeting. Members and supporters pledged to do their best to join the ongoing development effort in Tigrai. Aite Mulugeta and Dr Teodros were very delighted by the spirit of cooperation and by the selfless contribution members exhibited towards the establishment of the TDA NA chapter.
Aigaforum salutes all the pledged development heroes from Nashville!
Many people thought TDA was a misplaced priority when few started the organization 20 years ago. Today TDA has become synonymous with what exemplary grass root centered development should be. Many international organizations recognize TDA as an exemplary development organization.
TDA has seen its own struggle and its success did not come cheap. It has to overcome many naysayers and also Ethiopia’s dynamic politics! It also has lost one of its iconic people Araya Zerihun. Yet, Araya’s can do attitude and self less devotion to do good lives on as TDA moves on!
Aigaforum asks all active TDA members and supporters to join and be part of the golden anniversary's gathering in Washington DC. Let us show more than ever today we are committed to win our people’s number one enemy- poverty!
