DYNAMIC DEDEBIT FOOTBALL CLUB HAS
DONE IT AGAIN!
IT IS THE 2010 CONFEDERATION CUP CHAMPION
Yohannes Geberaselase (Ph.D) Canada.
After joining the Primer League from the National League as a Champion last year, in only its first year participation within the Ethiopian Premier League, the Dedebit Football club has achieved like no other club has thus far achieved. The Dedebit Football club stood second within the Ethiopia Premier League competition amongst eighteen Football clubs in the country. Further, although the Dedebet football club led the first half of the Premier League competition by eight points ahead of the second one: the St George Football club, Dedebit failed to capitalize on the points it accumulated during the first half and gave its top position to St George football club.
This was understandably due to lack of experience and other technical draw backs of this new dynamic football club. However, Dedebit finally stood and finished second on the Primer League. Dedebit football club was awarded a silver medal and fifty- thousand birr for its exceptional result and outstanding performance and standing in the premier league in only its first year within the premier league.
The second major competition is the Ethiopian knock out championship competition. This completion will entitle the Champion to participate on the African Club Championship representing Ethiopia. For that, Dedebit has to compete on the Ethiopian knock out championship competition and achieve like no other club has so far achieved in only its first year.
Out of fifteen football clubs on the Ethiopian knock out competition, Dedebit finished the year by reaching and achieving the top spot and by becoming the 2010 Champion of the Ethiopian knock out championship. Dedebit’s final games on the Ethiopian knock out competition were first against Muger Siminto and Dedebit won two to nil. Then came Sidama Buna and Dedebit won one to nil, then came Mekelakeya and Dedebit tied the match two each but then scored four to three on the penalty shoot outs and winning six to five in total. The final match was against none other but the highly experienced St.George football club; however, Dedebit was once again invincible and won the final championship match against St. George football club one to nil to become the 2010 Confederation cup Champion.
Dedebit as a champion of the Ethiopian knock out championship with its deserving Championship trophy will be able to participate and complete against other African clubs representing Ethiopia and who knows! Dedebit may even accomplish the unaccomplished business of Ethiopian football and bring football glory to our nation by winning African championship trophies and titles one day. Dedebit has earned much appreciation by almost all media outlets of the nation for its outstanding achievement
Way to go Dedebit! Congratulations Dedebit for your unprecedented milestone achievement and keep it up!
