Communiqué from the leaders of the Diaspora community of the Somali regional state of Ethiopia.
22 August 2009
We members of the Diaspora community from the Somali regional state of Ethiopia express our gratitude to the regional authorities for the thorough explanation given to us today of the political and economic developments taking place in the region. We call on them to keep the momentum of this highly appreciated work.
On our part we remain committed to contribute significantly to the achievement of the political and economic agendas set by the regional administration.
Today we have delegated our respective community leaders to establish an effective mechanism with the administration of the region which will facilitate effective communication between the Diaspora communities of the region, the regional administration and the embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in London.
At this historical juncture we would like to underline that, we are fully cognizant of the constructive role expected from us in terms of overcoming the economic and political challenges facing our regional state.
We dedicate ourselves to work through our different civil society establishments to promote social harmony and understanding in our region.
At the same time as a community we will continue to work together with the regional administration to promote trade, investment and tourism.
