Members of the Ethiopian Community in Los Angeles and surrounding areas welcomed
Ambassador Zerihun Reta, the newly appointed Consul General of the Office of the Consulate General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia at a luncheon held on Sunday, January 30, 2011.
The luncheon was attended by more than sixty entrepreneurs, educators and others who are eager to participate in the overall development of Ethiopia.
A representative of the organizers of the luncheon welcomed Ambassador Zerihun and invited him to address the attendees. The Ambassador on his part thanked the attendees for their warm welcome and highly commended their unwavering support to the Consulate General. The Ambassador also assured the attendees that the Office of the Consulate General will remain open to listen, discuss and address the concerns of the Ethiopian community.
The Ambassador used the occasion to brief attendees about the recently launched Growth and Transformation Plan and the role the Ethiopian Diaspora can play for its realization. He also pointed out Ethiopian Government policies and provisions especially formulated to facilitate the transfer of skills, knowledge and capital and encouraged them to take full advantage of the conducive environment.
During the function, attendees expressed their readiness to work in close cooperation with the Consulate General in all areas of common interest.
