Ambassador Mulugeta Alemseged Holds Meetings and Visits to Two Industrial Zones in Italy

May 12, 2011 (Rome)- Ambassador Mulugeta Alemseged , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the Republic of Italy, conducted meetings and tours in two industrial zones in Northern Italy in the Months of April & May, 2011. The first discussion was held with the members of Massa Carrara region industrial zone, one of the world's oldest industrial sites with high-profile marble resources, technology and marketing centers. While the second meeting and visit was in the Santa Croce industrial park, which accommodates more than 480 small- and medium-sized Leather manufacturers enterprises, employing nearly 10,000 staff.
Potential investors in attendance in both meetings were deeply briefed that Ethiopia has untapped ,resources, disciplined labor force, huge internal and external market access opportunities as well, the Government has put in place attractive investment incentives by providing investor-friendly environment for both domestic and foreign investors.
The two industrial districts were specifically targeted for “Ethiopia-promotion “by the Embassy for their relevance to our resources bases as well potential based on the GTP . Their technology, know how and marketing networks are reportedly one of the best in the world in their respective industries, which make them high value partners for relevant sectors in Ethiopia.
The industrialists in both zones actively participated in the discussions which shows their interest to be realistically engaged with Ethiopia.
The Ambassador, appraised the zonal economic development offices and industrial associations of both regions for their positive response to the Embassy’s communications for the same purpose as well as excellent meeting facilities and visits arranged.
Finally, some members as well as their secretariat and zonal economic offices, confirmed to the Embassy their interest to do a business tour to Ethiopia, in order to see for them selves.
The Ambassador, responded by expressing the Embassy’s strong desire to continue similar consultative meetings and visits in the future ,as well promised to do his best to arrange the business tours.
