Aboy Keshi Gergergis is a farmer and is veteran TPLF member. Ever since he joined TPLF in the late sixties he has been a staunch supporter of the struggle to bring peace democracy and development. Though he has aged since he has not lost his desire to fight for the right cause. During the last TPLF congress he was one of the delegate and by far the most talked about critic who raised issues of good governance and maladministration in Tigrai. He admonished current and retiring leaders for the problems the people were facing daily. He sat with Getachew Aregawi of Wurayna for an interview. He told Getachew what TPLF should do to resolve the issues and we think he has a very good idea. He said TPLF should hold a public meeting where professionals and the people can discuss openly. He said those who are to blame for the bad governance are sons and daughters and should be able to talk to them. In regard to "metekakat" Aboy Keshi admonish the senior leaders for abandoning the people at a critical time when they are needed. He also talked about Ethio-Eritrea as an example of not listening to the public. Listen to his interview and be informed!
We knew all along Tigrai is full of heroes and honest and farsighted people but we are glad we came to know about Aboy Keshi today. He may not have all the solutions to the problems facing the country today and he may not have diagnosed the problem facing the country correctly but he has a very valid point as far as TPLF. TPLF should not have abandoned Tegadelties the way it did! Starting with the demobilization from the army early on and even the recent retirements of veteran leaders it was not done properly. Other than that, we think "Metekakat" should continue though we know now EPRDF was caught with surprise when it was announced at first. There was no planning made and there were no capable and able people ready to take the mantel thus why people are crying out loud now in the open about good governance and nepotism and rent seeking! Regardless "Metekakat" has to continue now. It is the better choice between two bad choices- wait until senior leaders die out or replace them now with out any preparation!
