The one man regime in Eritrea is known to do the unexpected to survive another day. In the aftermath of its huge defeat by the Ethiopian defense forces it signed on the dotted line not to station its forces within 25 KM from the border area as Ethiopia demanded. Today after belittling the African Union over the years, it has decided to respect it by appointing an Ambassador! The question is why? What does this mean to the Eritrean Opposition in Addis Ababa? Who else could benefit by Eritrea’s government right hand man presence in Addis? Egypt? who….have your say!

We told you: Girma is An Amabasador to the AU not to Ethiopia. Eritrea has nothing to do with Ethiopia. Here is what VOA published recently with regard to Girmas return to Addis Ababa.

“Ethiopia’s foreign ministry has strongly denied any attempt to block
Eritrea’s return. But in a telephone interview, ministry spokesman Dina
Mufti said the re-establishment of Asmara’s AU mission will have no effect on the frozen bilateral relationship.

“It has nothing to do with the situation. We are the host country of the
African Union,” said Mufti. “We are under obligation to facilitate anything
for the African Union. That has nothing to do with the status quo.”

The Ethiopian spokesman rejected a suggestion that the arrival of an
Eritrean government representative in Addis Ababa might be a sign of a thaw. He said there has been no change in the status quo.

The Eritrean govt´s prostitute like behaviour should be clear to every one.EPRDF & particularly Woyane is a progressive organization, while flexible does not compromise it´s core principle.EPLF/PFDJ on the other hand has no principle, it is like a pimp & despises us,Eritreans, as our nationalism is based on hatred. Don´t you guys connect PFDJ, killing & jailing “Ethiopian Opposition” recently. Put your emotions aside and use your brain.Connect the two. Do not be naive. And yes , I am Eritrean with a brain & identity. As much as that sounds oxymoron ,it is not. There are wise Eritreans like me. You just have to look a little harder.

God bless my country Eritrea & my best country on earth, Ethiopia !!!

  3. Sewit says:

these are the top issues which Girma Asmorom will try to deal with diplomats in Addis and oxymoron Ethiopian oppositions.

He will do his best for Eritrea interst and We Congratulation him.Keep it up and great job our President Isaias Afewerqi. We are the winners and I am happy.

  7. Nezere says:

The EPRDF/WOYNE gov’t should stop thinking diplomacy, dialogue, rule of law, international law…when it deals with Girma @ Addis. The MAFIA member needs to be dealt accordingly…or else they gonna lead us into a 19th century madness. The heroic Ethiopian EPRDF must follow this tag 24/7.

  8. Dehab says:

Eritrea was federated with Ethiopia on the pretext that it could not sustain itself economically. However what was true during that period was Eritrea was in a capitalist system while Ethiopia was in feudalism. That pretext has been proven false recently. What Ethiopian brothers do not want to hear is a miracle has been in the making in Eritrea. When woyane blocked Eritrean products from the Ethiopian market and refused to use Eritrean ports the assumption is Eritrea will die in two weeks. However what happened was the reverse. Eritrea is going to be one of the fast growing economies in Africa. Now what is different with Eritrea is it was able to do it with out Ethiopia using its ports, with out exporting its products to Ethiopia, when its youth is in the trenches and when it was forbidden its rights by the IMF and the World Bank. How is it possible for a country with this entire foreign vendetta to win and come out of the ashes? The answer is the miracle maker Eritrean values, steadfastness and persistence made it to happen. From now on wards I really do not think there is nothing what Eritreans can not accomplish. Viva the people of Eritrea. The next stage to make the Assab port the hub of fishing and fish processing factories and reject Ethiopian offer to use it. That will complete Eritrean independence for ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We have nothing to do with Ethiopia.

  9. banjaw says:

Listen, Girma never came up with new Ideas. He is just the puppy of the well known brutal dictator, Isaias Afewerki. He is sent there just because his master is desperate and has no way out from the grave he dug way before.
His master’s way of conflict resolution is always “correct mistakes by making another mistake”. Girma, beware!!!

  10. EDEN says:

Bravo Meles for seeing beyond the horizon…This is the first step toward normalization. Had Meles not interested in normalizing relations with Eritrea he would have denied him entry on security grounds. Eventhough the ambassador is meant for AU, the host country has the right to deny him entry on security grounds….the so the rumor of normalization relations is not far fetched. I am also glad the new structure within Meles governement seems more forward looking than those hardliners…Berhane gebrekristos, Arkebe and Meles would be more suited than Abay tsehaye and Seyum mesfin…
Time to think peace with our cousins in the north..lets bygones be bygones and cherish the rest of lives living in peace, harmony and respect for one another!!

  11. Gorzo says:

I believe the should stay out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia given his personal character. Every host country has the right to say NO eventhough in a diplomatic nicities. Eriteria has no respect to the law and order of other countries and why should we have to accomodate an enemy of the people and country in the name of diplomacy after all he is security threat to our nation.

If he wish to attend the AU he can stay outside of the country but allowed to attend and leave the country immediately even for overnight if he he has to attend meeting the next morning.

  12. Markos says:

Girma has a right to come to Ethiopia, since Addis Ababa is a sitting place of African Union headquarter.Eritrea is member of Africa. If Ethiopia refuse to accept him, then OAU has to move out of Ethiopia.

  13. Justice says:

Again my comment for the sake of moderation!

Thanks Aigaforum for providing this opportunity to give our meaning on this issue. Leaving aside the shallow minded supporters of the HIGDEF regime, I am an Eritrean who fought for the right of the Eritrean people for years. The issue is not whether Girma Asmerom should come to Addis or not. The issue should be whether the HIGDEF(PFDJ) should be dismantled or not. In my view, as long as there is Esayas’s regime, there will never be peace and stability in Eritrea and Ethiopia. The problem is not only for the Eritreans. It is equally a problem for the Ethiopian people too. So every peace loving Ethiopian and Eritrean should fight the one man rule in Asmara. This is the only solution. If there are Ethiopians who believe that this issue is the issue of the Eritreans, is just a naïve way of thinking.

  14. Sam says:

I cant belive it, this must be a night mare for Aite Sium Mesfun to look at the eyes of Girma Asemerom in Addis. The true always comes out, you can cover it but give it time always comes out. Good luck to Girma Asmerom.

  15. RealEritrean says:

It’s really simple…if Eritrea wants to send an ambassador to the AU…not Addis…it’s really not Ethiopia’s business…it is Eritrea’s and the AU. Plain and simple. If Ethiopia doesn’t like…it can simply give up the AU headquarters to another country that will honor it’s obligations governing host nations of organizations such as the AU. I’m sure contries like Egypt, South Africa, Libya, Nigeria are more then capable of doing that and have the capability.

Lastly, I find it funny how some of you Ethiopians are talking about how “Eritrea is this and that…it doesn’t respect the law” etc. Last time I checked it was Ethiopia that refused to honor it’s word and legal obligation to respect the EEBC verdict. It was Meles that talked about “regime change in Eritrea” back in 2003 or ’04…and talked about “no war, no peace” and trying to put pressure on ethiopia…

so what do you people expect. Eritrea will act with the same amount of hostility that ethiopia does…so stop whining

  16. Kebede Belay says:

It is true that any country might have any type of government ,starting from the worst to the best. But, it is always true that when two brotherly countries quarrel the losers are the people of both countries. In the dispute between Eritrea and Ethiopia , the losers are the Eritrea people and the Ethiopian people.Any sensful move by the Eritrean government is well come.No matter how weak or strong a country is ,any move has great impact on the people. In fact, it would have great shame to enemies of these two people,if the Eritrean government has said ,Sorry to the Ethiopian people and contribute to bring the Eritrean people to their true brothers and sisters.I am sure , Qatar,Libya or Egypt is not closer to the EPLF leaders in Asmera. So ,let us hope that ,they will come to their sense and act positively.Even the EPRDF , especially the TPLF deserves many thanks because EPLF could have been in Asmera with out the fulsuport of the TPLF and Ethiopian democrats at large. It is not good to spoil history for short period of time of profit.Eritreans and Ethiopian are brothers and there is no force on this Planet that can stop this.Yes,Delaying is possible. Please ,Mr.Esias also come to your home and only Mr.Girma.Do not even come by plane ,you can even come on foot through Rama, with some two or three Eritrean elderly .
God Bless Ethiopians and Eritreans! They will make histroy together and ashame their historical enemies.

  17. Amaha says:

Pease. PLS . Do not include or associate Eriterian problem to any other country. You begged and asked to be on your own. Now find your own way to resolve it. Enough is enough

No one expects any credit from any one of you for all deeds and safeties’ you achieved when you don’t deserve it. if you know what i mean

It took you 30 + (15+/- 3) years to speak up and may be more than your life time to act. I am sorry for the new generation who is paying the price for the stupid mistake you made (natsenet zeybelu Harenet )
