What Next for MEDREK and AEUP

Now that the Election Board has spoken out loud and the results will be official by June 21st should MEDREK and AEUP cut their loss and accept the people’s verdict and move on or try the last resort going to the courts to demand for re-election?

By all account even if there were irregularities  here and there EPRDF has won big! We have not heard any evidence that could change the lopsided victory of the EPRDF.The difference of votes between EPRDF and the next best MEDREK is too huge. Such difference can not be simply explained by irregularities!

Five years is not that long and opposition parties should look inward and figure out what went wrong and start the preparation for the next election. Some of their leaders are already throwing the towel with out a transition plan. That is so sad and not good for democracy but that is our view what about yours? Should MEDREK and AEUP accept the election result and move on or continue the legal process? Have Your Say!

I think, what medrek and AEUP should do, even though it is too sour to swallow the result, they should do it by any means. Of course, they have full right to take their case to the court. If they are going to lose their case in the court, for sure they will, they have to sit down and discuss on how they could continue as a peaceful party in the future. Unless and other wise their fate is disintegration. That is the indispensable scenario they have.

I do not understand how an EPRDF support with the right mind and health condition can believe that EPRDF which is lead by TPLF (“Tigray People Liberation Front”) representing some 6% of the population can win a 99.6% parliamentary seat in a very ethnic, religious and cultural divert country and where ethnic tension and awareness is very high. How can a TPLF Leader Meles gets all votes of the Amharas or the Oromos? It is absolutely impossible even if Meles was an Amharan or Oromo angle.

I’m really starting to question the health condition of EPRDF supporters. I mean really. I’m not joking! If the supporters believe the results of the so called election, it is hard to me to even discuss with these kind of people who lack a minimum kind of IQ.

In my view, the big looser in this election is EPRDF. Do not be deceived because the people “voted” for EPRDF. They have done the same thing to the Derg by giving him a 98% of the votes. Or by the gathering of the Addis Ababans at Masquel square. Remember in 2005 election some 800 000 People gathered at masquel square to “support” EPRDF one week before the election. It means nothing in a dictatorial society. It is an alarm bell for EPRDF and you will soon see what I’m talking about. It will not be long when the foundations of the EPRDF arrogance will be shaken and the soldiers on whom EPRDF has its confidence start to go disarray. The time will come soon all the absolute power, which made the EPRDF drunk and blind will come to an end.

It is indeed time to do soul searching for EPRDF. Forget the irrelevant legal opposition.

why don’t forgate those irrelevant parties they are expaired so we have to expel them from political arena.politics in ethiopia is not animosity virus ,bacteria, not mean to personal demand ,not proxy gate to stupid and arrogant whites. it is love, option ,policies we ethioipians are aware of this and the opponent parties failed by this criteria so we could’t vote them.the only option what they have to do is to reconcider what the ethiopian p/le said at different rallies. we are n’t commidity we decied and for eprdf finish.we don’t like to hear any more especialy medrek and the other remenants of derg(me’ead) .so they have to retire why don’t believe us if they want they can go to asmera as they did before through thier reresentatives in diaspora.yeminagerut yemayku tikrsh nachew.

Fikre, EPRDF isn’t a minority ! It constitutes the majority of Ethiopian.

The EPRDF is a formation of revolutionary democrates from Tigrai,Amhara,Oromo & the southern Nations, nationalities & peoples state & supported by the Afars,Somalis,Gambella,Benshengul & Gumuz states.

The reason that the opposition have lost the election is: because they don’t see things the Ethiopian situation as they are but as they wanted them!

The reality in here is that EPRDF isn’t TPLF rather TPLF is one of the constituency of EPRDF! You can never win by taking the wrong assumption of things!

In the opposition camp, from the highest professor to the the cab (taxi) drivers in the western cities, you prefered to continue to ellude yourselves than to see & understand the reality!

In this front page of aigaforum, I have listened to a discussion in the VoA & when I hear an anti EPRDF man saying Ethiopia needs the south Africa kind of struggle, I said the opposition aren’t in their normal status & the Ethiopian voters knew this & made a good decision by electing the hard working revolutionary democrates!

Even the incompetent woman in the VoA have given more time to the nonsense sayer Doctor & kept cutting of the EPRDF supporter!

Here is a witness that the VoA is totally biased & one sided! With no journalistic ethics!

The bottom line is ; you continue to ellude yourself by taking the wrong assumption & we will continue to work hard with the revolutionary democrates!

The oppositions act as if they have another country to live in. May be that is true for them. I am longing for the opposition to be redefined away from the culture of individualism, chauvinism and zero sum politics, a feat that hurts this poor country a lot. I am not very comfortable with the alrgely self serving deeds, posturing and meaning of opposition in ethiopia. Andinet’s stone age fight clutters the oppositions image and decency further down.Opposers please gety real.

gezae do u have a normal state of mind? r u ethiopian if u r eritrean the issue of election is reserved to us but if u interesting in election advice to shabiya. otherwise medrek and aeup are not stand based parties they are microphone for westerners.they don’t have indoginous policies and strategies but copy and paste from neo-liberal advisors. by the way either any ethiopian that believe those the so called opponent parties could administer ethiopia? i can’t diferenciat all opponent groups one from the other.i am tired of listeng thier irrelavant voice.they dergs onegs and corrupters criminals.either any well desipled body (from medrek and aeup leaders )?hail shawel gizachew shiferaw merara siye negaso? we know them long time ago in diferent attitudes But now all ethiopians know who is who so those p/le shuold have to retire if not they have to ready for another failur.gezaee don’t blame meles he is domocrat not only to ethiopian but also to the p/le of africa.understand or go to pschotrapy

Now ETHIOPIA is on hard working to develope andto distroy poverity
then we don’t lost our time becouse of opposition parties. They serve them selves they don’t care about the people and the country. They have not thier own stand about many affaires of the country.
aigaforum is good website please continue by thise way.THANKS.

May God bless and keep Ethiopia and Ethiopians always peacefull, prosperous and protected from external enemies. If our strength is intact and water proof, we will dfinetly be an icon of democracy atleast to our brother Africans. Having said that, the recent election conducted in our country has been concluded to the interest of many Ethiopians. However, some oppositions leaders are hesitant in accepting the results. The reason for this is i think immanates from two aspects of a situation. The first aspect is either lack of of understanding of the election system in Ethiopia or a delibrate refusal of the out come.
The Ethiopian election system is First Past the Post Voting system. That means a candidate with the most votes in a constituency wins. If we look at Addis Aeba’s election, the total vote casted by the voters was 1,037,316 in which 564,764 were won by the encumbent govt. and the rest was won by the oppositions. However, because of the voting system, the encumbent was able to win almost all the seats in the Parliament for A.A.
The other important thing to quiz is: how much were the oppositions and the incumbent objective, targeted and determined to win the election?
In the case of the incumbent it stood up with an objective to sustain the on going economic development in the country, hence, inorder to fulfill its objective it targetted to win the election by over majority and worked with full determination. However, the oppositions were wel explained from their routine behaviour as fragmented, undetermined and not yet ready for government
To make the matter short, the oppositions should have the gut to close the old chapter and start a new chapter with a clear objective, target and determination to win the next election. The opposition have a lot to learn from the incumbent if they are genuine enough for change. Let the oppositions do the right thing rather than the popular thing period
