Dear Aiga,

Some times i wonder your capacity as a journalist? Why is it important to follow the PM while we have a lot of things to discuss? Last time I raised the issue that you have to bring very debatable and constructive issues that every one of us can learn and contribute for our country. It is the work of higher officials to visit different places all over the country. We shouldn’t take the PM as a hero for visiting one farmer. Rather, we have to worry why Indian are now becoming an economic giant while they were very poor like us before two decades? Since the Ethiopian Diaspora is living all over the world, what can we learn from all our fellow citizens with respect to developing our country? These would be a very interesting topic if you are really worried for the development of the country. If you’re only trying to defend the failures of this government, your line is nice and please continue. You can appreciate the name of the PM, the beauty of the first lady, etc. But don't tell us how the country is developed while there are too many problems in that country. I was at home before one week and I don’t have words to explain the problem of shortage of hard currency. The national bank ceased selling hard currency at all. You can get hard currency in two hotels in the country...Sheraton and Hilton. I was begging every where to get some hard currency....This is the result of the dude’s (that you always defend) governance for the last two decades. Therefore, don't tell us what we know. Just tell the dude and co how to improve the bad governance in the country and how to bring real development in our beloved country by learning from others.

It is amazing our lunatic Diaspora is having hard time to understand the EPRDF policy when it comes to reducing poverty. Ethiopia first unashamedly ask eprdf to change course even though the same policy is responsible for avoiding famine and alleviating poverty by reducing poverty index in Ethiopia by double digit. It is amazing Dagmawi is still soothing his wounded ego by picking here and there economic statistics that do not tell the whole picture. Dagamai ego got bruised when he predicted, first the end of Meles followed by TPLF demise and his 101 election 2005 analysis that landed him in the now defunct right wing camp of the CUD. Dagmawi was so hurt his contribution during the Badme war did not materialize in the fall of Meles and the recapture of Eritrea!

Bless Emama Etenat, I hope her exemplary work is duplicated by many other farmers. Sometimes when I see bad news, I too want to criticize the govt for not doing more. But I never doubt them they were not trying hard. Man how I get mad at Monday morning quarterbacks!

The road constriction from Woreta to Woldeya was started in 1996 Ethiopian calendar before the election, and then people of debretabor elected CUD in 1997, the road that was started 5 years ago stopped where it started. Aiga, why are you talking about one woman's success? Ethiopia has 80 million people. There are many who are doing well as before and even in the future. What is the fuss about the success of one woman? can she represent the whole Ethiopia? what about the many millions who are living on handouts every year?

What is the fuss about Meles going to one Kebele? for you it sounds like it is a miracle Meles visited a farmer? Woye gude, open your mind aiga, Meles was actually supposed to do what the people wanted far beyond a surprise visit.

We are aware the harrowing poverty in the country right now. Because there is investment does not mean there is no problem at all.

It seems you wanted every Ethiopian to say yes, there is no problem. That is not good, people have to critize weaknesses unlike you.

If there are individuals who are doing well like the mother, Meles must not take credit for that. The credit is due to the mother, not to Meles. Why must we believe any success at home is because of Meles?

We are saying, if the government could have listened and worked with the people, by now , almost 20 years down the line, we could have done away poverty once for all. you have divided our people and you have weakend our unity just to do only what you wish to do. You have been talking about development for the past many years, but we are still begging. If we were united, if you did not divide our people, the country could have changed in 5 years, leave alone in 20 years.

Let me say it again, stop propaganda, resolve all outstanding issues which is pitting and dividing the nation, stopping considering yourself as the only vanguard of Ethiopia. Consider every Ethiopian equal as you.

If this woman can change whey not our leaders can’t change?
Ehiopia has been suffering from starvation and hunger during the Emperor time and the Derg period,

And still Ethiopia is suffering from starvation and famine ,millions of people are dying due to luck of food to eat. So if our PM can not change this big problem who is to be blame? The diasporas or the government lead by PM Meles .His poor governance speaks for it self. If we have a leader who is concerned to the people and the country :

A) use irrigation and mechanized farming to make poverty history
B) use a legal system to restore our port Assab.
By doing this we can make poverty history otherwise it will be joke.

It is really an impressive success story that has to be told and retold accross the Continent of Africa. What we need is such kind of regimes that are not insular rather create an enabling environment for all of the nations and nationalities of Ethiopia - real people from all walks of life - farmers, traders, bankers, industrialists, so and so forth. This shows the developmental nature of the Ethiopian government and its commitment to realize that will.

I am not against aiga. Telling them thier weakness is not hatred. I do not know what hate, leave alone for aiga or Meles, but I do not any human being. But I have to speak my mind that poverty could have been a history by now if Meles did not divide our people. I think this is true. If TPLF of Hayelom could have continued from the momentum it had, Poverty could have been a history aftre 20 years. He destroyed the unity of our people and stopped the momentum of our people and we are still begging for food. We are talking about the development all the time, still begging after 20 years.

I am saying still,unite the people, let a leader be elected by the people and the nation be mobilized and make poverty a history. An Arab or Indian investor will never solve our problem. We have seen this all over. A nation's problem can only be solved by the citizens.

Instead of making a long journey to Gondar, he should have first made a short trip (just meters away from where he lives) and visit the families he made fatherless, motherless, and orphans, or he should have gone to that part of Gondar where he made a land deal with Sudan and say I'm sory..."I will reverse my decision"

It is ridicules to me to comment about this woman’s life style.
Our development is hampered totally by the PM incompetence to lead the country ,he came to power with no experience and use Metternich system by divide and rule to stay in power.. The Amhara against Tigrai , Oromo against Debub Hizboch ,Afar against Somal and Gambela against Benshangul. And it sad to hear during the youth association meeting with the PM in Addis Ababa ,the youth representatives can not speak Amharic properly and it was hard to understand what they are talking about .this is b/c the Meles’s policy of bad education system.This man is destroying the country .It is sad!

PM Meles has no the moral right to speak about economy development since he can’t feed the people since in power for 18 years. He has done nothing to feed the people ,while Ethiopia has all this abundant resources to feed it self .But his incompetence and wrong economic policy made Ethiopia to beg food from donor countries. It is a bit difficult to write my idea because the video and what is written about Emmama Etenat is a product of the motto close your eye and let i cheat you.
The reason for the above statement is as you will put it, it is not due to the hate of the Woyane led EPRDF and its policies but due to the reality prevailing in the country.
Let i bring some profound truths from the interview.
1.Emmama Etenat has atleast basic educational background which is not representing all Ethiopian farmers
2.One can easily see from the interview that she was a focus to be visited since someone was searching here before the act happened which shows that some orchestration behind the seen.we can literal meanings of Buna yiqulu yefederal engida yimetal...
3. It is true she is well trained or is affiliated with the ruling party due to that she was frank to relate the hall in India with that of Mulualem hall in Bahrdar.
These being the background let i put my comments in overall situation.
What we have seen in the video as well what is written is the will of every Ethiopian as to make poverty history but are we going to do it? It depends how we see it. If the definition of poverty is the make our people living above the poverty line defined internationally / poverty is about entitlment and endowmnet or is poverty about putting a piece of propoganda in the mouth of our people?

Let I bring the propoganda side first by bringing our past experiences, may be most Ethiopians have heard about Yetnora(Dejen) and the cooperative at Huruta on the way Ticho and the famous Ethiopian radio talking about these cooperatives how they were well organized and rich members during the military regime but where are they now?
Then let we come to the famous Model mother of ten i wish here all the best but it is sorry to say it she did not represent a farmer whom i know paid Ambasel selling his only goat in the same region for credit given to him for fertilizer or the farmer who have never seen an improved seed throughout his life in Abobo(Gambella) or a farmer who was confisicated his land by the EPRDF cadres in Ambo by lame reason he belongs to OLF.

I can bring a handful such experiences but the next isssue i raise about endowment and entitlment because in the interview one of the sons explained about the ecualyptus trees about 50000 in number (if you take 3 by 2 specing tp plant it needs .8 ha ) where the farmers average holding size is 0.5 ha. It lies the basis issue if we want to make poverty history we have to start with endowment and entitlment which play the roles in avoiding depletion of the land because of they are entitled to the person who owns it and is also his endowment in crutial times.
Unless we try this way and with successive refined policies to boast the rural developnment it is a farce .

To clear myself again this topic reminds me what Meles(Leggesse) said in 1996 while the people in Gamo were starving. "We planned to be self suffient in twenty years but we are fast to achieve it in shorter time and are able to export 20 000 quintals of Maize to Kenya."
So are we still experiencing Mengistu and watching Meles(Leggesse)?
Or are we acting the script of Derg by members of EPRDF.

As to me it also reminds me on thing when my friend was assigned as a Minister in one of the Ministries what his wife asked him was did he know anyone in the ministry of transport to give her a driving licence and if the villas/hotels/resorts built by EPRDF officials and their affilaites is the true meaning of poverty alleviation i accept your anaysis ofcourse poverty is already history in Ethiopia but is reigning if we come to the true and scientific definition.

Emama Etenat is one of the many million farmers who have made a tremendous progress in fighting poverty. We all should be proud by her achievement and the government recognizing her. What some are missing about the main message in this news is, the government is winning the war against the age old perception that people are born poor and will remain poor. People like emama Etenat are good examples that the war against poverty will be won and the government day in day out message that poverty is number one enemy of the country is sinking in.

No more gura kereyu, and meta negarit for war! This government managed to convince the public against all odds that Ethiopian needs no war against Eritrea, despite the loss of sea port and still got ears from the public to wage relentless war against poverty!

If any one in doubt Gambella, Oromo, Debu and Tigray e.t.c does not have another emama Etenat then you surely are very ill informed. The country is full of emama Etenat and the number growing daily.

Here we go again. In the name of "unity" the same old garbage is spewed in order to divert the ongoing fight against poverty. Most of us who reside outside the country are simply cowards who fled to save our lives while the heroic EPRDF/TPLF never hesitated even to give up and live a comfortable life like us; and through immense sacrifice removed the brutal regime from power.
Some of the paper tigers are now using every means to discredit all the achievements and simply come to power and continue the same old system in the name of “Unity”. Ethiopia had never seen unity like our present time. The gallant Ethiopian defense forces are a living testimony to this.
For me personally most of the negative bloggers are filled with hate and are always waiting for a perfect/conducive time for retribution. Case in point: All the “Gejerra” imported in to the country prior election2005.
There fore please disregard/ignore their hateful blogs and go with the majority of the peace loving people of Ethiopia.

The derg Cadres also said the same. They said they know everything Ethiopians wanted. They never allowed or gave a chance to any Ethiopian. They never listened to anyone. They even never allowed any one to say a word. The Derg Cadres even killed for anyone who have opposed them. There was no mercy. There was no anything wrong in Ethiopia according to the derg cadres. They were celebrating, feasting, and building Lenins monument and even painting addis Ababa 's wall with color paints as to whitewash the truth the reality.

Here we go again, we have people like Yasin who jump to insult people, not less than the crue and arrogant derg Cadres.

Dear Yasin, All Ethiopians know what they wanted. you cannot represent 80 million people by yourself. I have told you many times, when express your opinion, talk about your opinion only, do not represent all Ethiopians or all Tigrean because no one elected you. Also do not insult people, agree or disagree give a chance for others to have a say. I may not speak all time what u wish to hear because I do not think the way you think. Just consider yourself as one person and do not go beyond that otherwise, if you do one mistake the whole people who you are represeting would have to be condemned them.

About hate; believe it or not, I love every Ethiopian including Meles and aiga. I know no hate personally. If you support EPRDf, put down your arguments one by one and correct me or otheres accordingly. Otherwise, I am not going to hear you crying and crying. You have told us Ethiopia is in the right direction. I wish too to see that. But let it be practical and the people of Ethiopia must say that, not only the few cadres who get the milk.

Do not be selfish, what I am saying does not hurt TPLF or EPRDF, if EPRDF hear the people and do what the people wanted, I am sure EPRDF will be elected many times. The things which making you fail is not me, it is your stubbonness and your beliefs that you know Ethioipans wanted. Ethiopians know what they wanted. The people must say EPRDF knows what we wannted, not you talking on behalf of the people.

You can insult me 100 times, you will only affect yourself, because the words you are saying will hack your brain if you have any humility. I do not bother if you insult. Zeytsemoya tserfies darga derfi yibehal eyu. I do worry about your insult. I can handle more than that.

All I said is unite the people, listen to the people, and work with the people, and make poverry a history not by talkiing about it for two or more decades but by action. Unite the TPLF, let Siye get back to his work and let the rest return to their work and let the people unite and let the outstadning issue about Eritrea be resolved by the people. Let a leader be elected , at least a different person even from EPRDF. let all opposing forces come a round a table and work peacefuly by formulating alternative policies. And make conflict history in Ethiopia. If you cannot swallow all the above, you must have a problem with yourself.

Deep rooted Ethiopian problem.

My brother, I am very realistic, Ethiopian problem can be solved in 5 years if there were real men and women. To solve Ethiopian problem you do not need Trillions of money from UN or others. To solve Ethiopian problem you just have to solve the the real problem at grass root level by mobilizing the people. But since the citizens are not liberated either from outside dependency or from internal conflict, you can hardly do away with poverty.

When you solve one problem what do u do?

You do identify the variables and you eliminate the variables of poverty nad then poverty can be made a history.

In Ethiopia, there is no problem solving formulation model. There was no before, there is no still. you cannot solve problem by collecting money from everyone. You cannot solve problem by whitewashing the problem. We have developed rather a culture of completely dependency on aid than solving it by local and cheap means. All the methods Ethiopian government is applying will not solve Ethiopian problem. An investor can never solve any nations problem. It never happened in history. Look history, Brazil, Libya, Japane, even China,.... Russia, Israel,....

Investors investors invest for profit, they do not invest to solve problem any people. It is foolish investors solve any countries probblems.

If Meles have not come up with anti Ethiopia policy, and if he has not been stuck in the ruse of his useless ideology. If he could have invested in the trust and motivations of the citizen, he would not have needed any aid to solve Ethiopian problem. The best investment to solve a nations problem is not money which comes from outside under instruction, the best tool to solve a nations problem was to follow the interest of the citizen and mobilize the citizen. Here we go again that it is something to talk about reality and reality is the basis for transparency and accountability but if we brag to refute it, it does not contribute to the future development of the country. The second issue you want to tell me is about seeing the countryside about the infrastructures in the country i.e small scale irrigation,feeder roads,electricity,clinics and schools. The baseline is not that we construct them but are they sustainable?are they endowed/entitled to farmers who are capable or affiliated to EPRDF? are these infrastructures equipped with human,financial and material inputs?
Let i tell you i have alteast worked in about 8 regions in the country and ofcourse i can witness schools without desks and teachers, 80 students in a class room,clinics without a proper fridge,cooking facilities, medicines,and health personnels what does that mean to you is development if so i have to follow you and change the definition of it.
The other issue you raised is that whether i overcome poverty, it is the best question to raise but if corrupting and having assets like all the ministers of EPRDF my reply is no but atleast i cover what i need for my life and thank you for thinking about me.

Lastly you do not have to be a witch but a person who visualies the reality and think sequential strategies to lay fundamentals of development. This would happen not by producing policies from above but it needs needs assesment,problem identification, solving mechanisms,and lying out goals on the objective realities. How we do this is and how we formulate our problem solving has to be done with the participation of the beneficiaries. This leads us to the question of telling your mind freely about the problem and some anticipated solutions which come from the beneficiaries. This needs the basic Human Rights issue of association,organization,freedom of speech and describing you idea in any form. So without these tools it is eminent to make practical what EPRDF told you a solution for at any level.
Let i give you two examples in two places there was a water drilling project(North Shoa) and after the project was finished an old man was invited to cut the ribbon and drink the first cup of water,do you know what happened he cut the ribbon and told the cadre that no one use this water because the place was used as a graveyard earlier.
The other one was in Gambella region(Abobo)toilets were constructed part of a UNDP country program ( Men and women under one roof )after the completion they told them that it is uncultural to use the toilet divided by the same wall.
Here what i want to show you is the most basic problem identification/solving mechanism lies on the respect of Human Rights and then after we can what we want to achieve but with closed mouth except cadres no way out.
