WAHABISM: Its
Creed and Objective
Part Two
Melaku Tefera 08/22/13
In part one of
the same titled article, I have raised some issues about the Wahabia group’s objectives
and presumptions, which as we found out, is based on suspicion and unfounded
hypothesis; and also the fact that it harbors its own political ambitions. Part
two continues…
This religious fundamentalists
group works on confusing the Muslim community through speculative thinking.
Going through numerous individual countries’ complex history, they come down to
an unfounded conclusion which usually goes out like ‘Ethiopia is about to do this
and do that’ and so forth. We can see these types of worthless comments from
the group, given in different times, without providing a single shred of
evidence. This fundamentalist group made some distasteful and unsubstantial
claims like, ‘there is a scheme to make Ethiopia “Ill at ease” (uncomfortable) to
the Muslims; there is a campaign underway to localize Islam like the
Ethiopian orthodox; the Muslim community didn’t use to demand it’s right;
students & civil servants may be asked to skip Ramadan fasting not to setback
work & education’
Let’s come back
down to earth (& reality for that matter), and further probe this presumptuous
‘claims.’ As it’s known every government in every part of the world strive to make
their citizens life better; and it’s clear that a country motivated to change
this wish into reality cannot afford to be favorable to one religion and detrimental
to the others. Because if a country is to be prosperous and afford its citizens
better life, it should mobilize the people from border to border and make sure
that they are part of the development process. Obviously this can’t be achieved
by fracturing the people through petty religious favoritism, as the would-be Islam’s-
defender wahabia claim.
The good thing
is the Ethiopian government or more precisely the ruling party has a rich
history of working closely with the people and always had respect for the
public which emanates from the party’s innate nature.
The ruling party
understands that their grand victories and the current fast and continuous
economic development recorded are achieved through the key role the public
played; therefore it can’t ruin this attitude or thinking by weighing things through
the vista of religion, and it hasn’t. This is why the ruling party uses the
slogan ‘the future is bright with us’ in its election campaigns. The Wahabian futile
acts of bad mouthing the government won’t work persuade the people, as the
public is well aware of the workings of the government and the extremists.
By the way, who are
responsible for downplaying other religions and denouncing its own religion by
claiming ‘the existing Muslims were subservient in demanding their right? the
wahabians or the government? Who are trying to send other religion followers in
to dark ages by imposing their beliefs forcefully?
The body
responsible for raising all these paltry questions is a foreign lackey made up
of riot–crazed extremists, who are profiting under the name of a religion. So
except for the Wahabians the future is bright for the peace loving Muslim community.
The current state of the country is more suitable to peace rather than to havoc
seeking miniscule entities. Thus, the wahabia disciples cry to the Muslim community
of our country’s so called attempt to be ‘Ill at ease’ to the Muslim is nothing
but self-delusion. The new Ethiopia can only be ‘Ill at ease’ to havoc and riot
crazed vandals.
In the new
Ethiopia, every citizen’s human and democratic rights have been respected; also
the constitution has guaranteed the people freedom to demand and implement their
rights. And the people have been enjoying these freedoms and right for the
last twenty one years. These religion fascist wahabians declare that the existing
Muslims don’t use to demand their rights, employing their divide-and-downplay
approach. What I and other member of the religion can attest is the fact that
we all have been demanding our religious rights.
And these
demands have always been answered unlike the previous regimes.
For instance for
the last two decades our question for a mosque building sites have been
answered. So who asked for those mosques to be built? Is it the havoc mongering
wahabian or is it their political thinking? The ones who demanded and enjoyed
their right are the Ethiopian Muslim community not these extremists with
foreign masters. So these wahabian worthless preach (argument) is of no value.
The other bit of
‘shot in the dark’ like subject this undemocratic group raises is that, it
believes there is a campaign waged by the government to localize Islam, like
the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. From what or where these deluded fundamentalist
get this cockeyed idea, only them and the devil knows. But, I believe this
emanates from the two pillar characters of Wahabians: their innate lying and
deluded presumptions and their function in international terrorism.
It’s helpful
here to mention that Ethiopian orthodox church is not in fact walled within the
borders of the country; and as far as I know the church is member of world
council of churches, unlike what the Wahabian cough-up from their ‘disrespect-every
–other religion’ mouths. We even have been hearing for some time that the late
patriarch (may be rest in peace) of the church was once the president of the council.
So if the church
is only Ethiopian, how on earth did the patriarch held the presidency of the
world’s church unity?
What I would
like to remind to the Wahabian is that, this kind of mudding facts with lies to
have their way will only help further increase the pace of the their
marginalization from the Muslim community. They’re a living proof of ‘the more
you lie, the obvious you become’.
Dear Readers,
the group’s Nostradamus-like prediction that goes like ‘there’s a campaign to
limit Ethiopian Muslims within Ethiopia’ harbors aspirations for joining international
terrorism syndicates. When some forces insist that a religion has to follow the
extremism trend that is going on internationally against its long held values,
it means it is concealing ‘imposing our beliefs on others’ thinking which
undermines other’s freedom of religion. This also justified the long time claim
made against the Wahabian, that the group is the resident lackey of the
fundamentalist in our country, especially considering the fact that they are
involved in downplaying the Majlis (the
Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs). Like
the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, the Majlis is part of international Islamic institution
and works in cooperation to stage Hajj’s & Umrah’s.
These wahabia’s ‘shot
in the dark’ like facts are both shame – laden and in large supplies. This group
has the nerve to say ‘students and public servants may be prohibited to fast
during Ramadan to avoid work & education clamor.’ Thinking about this
outrageous claim during this holy Ramadan month, couldn’t make sense out of it
or find any where to place it.
Any so-called
religious sect cannot possible fail to comprehend that a democratically elected
government has no grounds to prohibit its citizen from fasting- unless they are
harboring political ambitions. This pretentious stunt which was executed by
presenting non –existent facts as the truth can not be more than a failed
political analysis on the part of the extremists- nothing more, nothing less.
This is because this kind of deluded hypothesis only exists on the demented
minds of the Wahabian, not in this new Ethiopia where we all live in and can see
for ourselves.
In fact during
this Ramadan, our Christian friends and peers have been supporting us by
sharing the load of our works. These realities and acts of brotherhood have helped
shade a light on the extremist’s bogus & unfounded ‘we won’t be allowed to
fast’ nonsense.
The other “artistry”
these religious fascists have been doing is painting the Ethiopian government
as the westerns’ liaison (lackey). However, anyone (with a common sense) can
attest that the government has its own unique politico-economic directives and
it’s notorious for not succumbing to foreign pressures. The regime fervently
believes that its constitutional power emanates from the people not from
foreign forces. Its strong position of forwarding the country’s national
interest no mater what, and its innate objectives of an all-inclusive
development & benefit plan have been attested by recently leaked
confidential documents (cables).
More over in
these secret cables made public; courtesy of ‘wikileaks’, claims that the one
time American’s Acting Ambassador to Ethiopia Vicki Huddleston described the
Ethiopian government as ‘the Ethiopian government always prioritize what it believes to be in the country’s
interest rather than our (foreign) demands’. This neutral & reliable
testament can be a factual base to conclude that the Ethiopian government
indeed doesn’t take orders aside from the Ethiopian people. So considering these
facts, it’s safe to deduct that the Wahabians are only interested on bad
mouthing the government – for the reason that, even they cannot be this gullible
to not recognize these facts.
This groups also
have tried (in bad taste I might add) to condemn government officials by
referring to their respective religions. They tried to champion government affiliation
with Christianity by just highlighting Christian government officials. But are
they blinded by ignorance and hate so much that they can’t understand that a
government official like any ‘average Joes’ out there can have his/ her own
religion. As long as an official doesn’t try to impose his /her own religion in
the workings of the government, their freedom of religion is protected (like
every other citizen).
But, it’s not
surprising that the Wahabians don’t understand this fundamental concept, as
their motive is to subvert this freedom in the first place.
Mentioning every
Christian officials and then leaping far above the ground to outrageously claim
‘the government is working on building a Christian dominated Ethiopia’ seems to
be part of their agenda and objective. Indeed if their objective to use this
rumor as a pretext to declare ‘we the wahabi’s should be the order’, then they
should realize their agenda won’t be more than ‘Hope flows eternal through…’
like wish. Cause this kind of favoritism towards one religion over others (be
it Muslim or Christian) is as good as tearing up the constitution, and this
can’t possibly happen as long as Ethiopian nation, nationalities and peoples
exists. This kind of state-religion structure is bulldozed to the ground with
the Emperor and the Derg’s regime.
The game plan of
the group calls for condemning the government from their armchair. The other
rumor they’re spreading (straight out of their claim-unresearched-and-bogus
theories-as-facts book) is that the government wants the Muslims to be
marginalized from Ethiopian politics. This unconstitutional stunt is also not
surprising considering one of the group’s agenda calls for establishing an
Islamic republic by over throwing the constitution. However, this is a barren
hope not to be realized because it’s obvious to everyone with eyes that the
Muslim community has equal footings in the country’s politics and claiming
otherwise is purely political propaganda ( a bad one at that ). Since we member
of the Muslim community are fully a ware that the political stratum is open to
all religion’s followers to claim stake in, these ---------- must realize this
act of perplexing won’t work on the Muslims. If the Wahabians are dreaming of establishing
an Islamic government where they’ll sit at the top, then they should realize
that this outrageous plan won’t be possible especially considering this kind of
Sharia administration which adjoins religion with the state contradicts
with the democratic order the country’s building.
Therefore these
fanatics and their masters must realize that this unconstitutional longing of
theirs will only be feasible in the dream world because their quandary is
directly with the people.
The Wahabians
know no bounds on propagating false rumors or condemning a democratic
government. One of their famous brazen presumptions has to do with their claim that
‘the government officials support the Al Ahbash sect’. But, I as an Ethiopian
Muslim don’t know anything about ‘Al-Ahbash’.
Of course I am
well aware of one Islam which came down to us from the days of the prophet
Mohammed (Peace Be upon Him); and about foreign funded religious extremists
group like the Wahabians. Other than these I don’t know anything about, what
these fanatics proclaim as, ‘Al-Ahbash’- aside from true Islam.
All in all, we
have never heard or saw the Ethiopian Government participate in an act of
Franchising or de-franchising any religion or any side. The government can’t
perform its constitutional duty of upholding ‘the rule of law’ with effect by
favoring one religion ahead of others. The constitution has made sure that the
state cannot interfere in religion and vice versa- there are no loopholes or
excuses.
Therefore, any
claim to the contrary made by Wahabians on the government only helps shade a
light on the inner agenda and thoughts of the groups’ political ambitions, and
is also a prime example to their nonchalance to religion. And this is part of
the reason why they indulge in petty propaganda of labeling someone Christian
and claim that he/she is working against Islam.
If the Whahbians
were really after strengthening freedom to religion, they wouldn’t be occupied
in spewing unfounded and bogus wrath on government publications and innocent
government officials. However, thanks to the group’s inconsistencies, now
everyone is aware of their mischievous acts and motives. Yes, these
pseudo-Islam defenders are political junta’s not religious sect.
Moreover what we
can understand from the group’s bogus, unfounded and distorted claims (“argument”)
is that they are unconstitutional forces who are after destabilizing our peace
and reversing the country’s thriving economic development under the guise of
religion.
But the fact of
the matter is we the Muslims who knows Islam is a religion of peace, love and
respect should act in a way to stop these lunatics. Thus, we must marginalize
these extremists who are disturbing our peace and development in mosques and
the streets and also must condemn their distasteful act of lying in the name of
a religion.
