Becoming a full fledged junkie to Ethiopian pal talk rooms recently, I heard some x-derg members and chauvinist’s claimants planning to demonstrate in London on the 2nd of April. Their main motto is to debilitate PM Meles’s charisma and contribution as the lead African voice during the G20 meeting.
I am against not only the way these people protest but also the view and messages they're putting forward. One should be supporting not undermining, the efforts of the international governments to work together to avoid economic disaster. The G20 meeting is climacteric especially to Africa with the slowdown in its economy. Africa is vulnerable to the slowdown of global economy, Africa is more than ever in a need of capable leaders who can defend Africa and challenge the richest countries to accept their responsibility and do their best to help Africa avert the existing condition.
Taking in to account such byzantine, in the 12th AU meeting, African leaders select PM Meles of Ethiopia to represent Africa on G 20 meeting. Unlike the few hate peddler Diaspora Ethiopians, the African leaders and IMF were aware of Meles’s track record of defending Africa and challenging the developed nations in various issues like climate change, free trade, and ease to financial access and of his distinguished leadership fighting poverty in Ethiopia.
As an Ethiopian, there is nothing more that makes me proud than witnessing my country representing Africa and with a leader who can think globally and act locally at the same time. Ethiopians are enjoying their democratic right and fighting day and night to make poverty a history.
Estimates are there will be about 100 people protesting against PM Meles on April 2. These people think or believe their voices, not the majority of Ethiopians who elected PM Meles as a leader and not the African head of states who appointed PM Meles as their lead leader will be heard. The fact is their voice will not be heard. The plain fact is that these people don’t have one single convincing point to demonstrate. As we have seen for the last 18 years they have staged so many demonstrations and every time they failed miserably and lost all credibility-thus the reason for the low turnout!
The "Hate mongers” are made-up of"wannabes" seeking the limelight. Poor souls! Couldn’t they do better than making silly faces at the camera of Eretria review websites and alkies?
It is time to say enough is enough and Protest the protest !!!!!!
