Thanks but no thanks

It was with deep disappointment that I watched the discussion between Ethiopian political parties that was aired a couple of days ago. The so called medrek that was represented by old and seasoned politicians has proved it self to be an organization that is formed by a political henchmen who have no clue about what Ethiopians expect from them.  It is very sad to see a gray haired elders behaving like a   bully who doesn’t understand the consequence of his action.  These old but immature political personalities should be forced to go never to come back to the political arena. They way medrek representative behaved was absolutely stupid and they seem to think that they are better than everybody else in the room. What I couldn’t comprehend is how others in the room managed to tolerate the intolerable medrek for almost an hour.

If medrek is let to continue behaving the way it does in the name of democracy , civilized democratic election will remain unattainable or a distant dream. For the sake of peace and political civility, MEDREK should not be permitted to poison the political climate. It was an ugly theater that left it’s viewers to wish for a better tomorrow without any of the actors. If given the chance, medrek is out with full force to scuttle any viable and peaceful political process in the country.  It is a shame for all of us Ethiopians to see our political candidates are behaving the way medrek representative behaved for everyone to see .

The medrek people should know that Ethiopians can’t be fooled once more by an empty rhetoric and bravado. We have social, economic and political problems which require utmost and selfless contributions from Ethiopians of all walks of life. It is true that we need an alternative  party that is capable of working with all others who can contribute  in the fight against poverty and backwardness we are known for and  one which can unite us , respect us and listen to us. MEDREK should understand the fact that they can’t snatch power from the ruling party. We the people are the determinant factor. You can only accept power with diligence, humility and sense of responsibility when and if the people give you their vote.

We thought we will have a strong and responsible party that will serve us an alternative to the current ruling party. Unfortunately, you have displayed negative emotions, demagogue and total disrespectful attitude towards others who opened the door of opportunity for you. It is very clear that MEDREK is a dead on arrival political group formed by the people who are hell bent to derail the election process. We can’t afford to lose another two hundred or more of our brothers and sisters in the name of election.   MEDREK has to rule itself first before it can rule the country.  We have seen the best of MEDREK and now we know what to expect from them. As the saying goes, you can’t teach an old dog a new trick. Therefore, All I would like to say to medrek is thanks but no thanks.
