PM Meles, Not Right Time To Quit Office.

 (Daniel Berhe Mitiku, Toronto, 20/02/09)

Our planet is experiencing the worst economic turmoil in history following the U.S market collapse due to unregulated financial sectors and systemic fraud committed by giant wealthy individuals and corporate in order to satisfy their self interest and ego.

When America, the power engine of our world suffers from massive deficit, developing countries like Ethiopia must quickly adjust to internal and external stimuli and react cautiously to their economic changes to stabilize the standard of living of their citizens.

This time, more than any other time, Ethiopia needs a wise and experienced economic and political decision maker leader to lift the country out of poverty and sufferings inherited from former rulers. Currently, under the leadership of PM Meles, Ethiopia has achieved international attention and recognized as the ideal country to attract investment in Africa .But, there are, several unfinished businesses which need to be accomplished before PM Meles starts to think stepping down as a leader.

A tremendous change has been achieved in many areas of development but a lot are needed in education, health, agriculture and infrastructure. Ethiopians want to see a prosperous and progressive Ethiopia in their life time.

Today, the feelings of Ethiopians are different from 23 years ago when drought, misery and migration were common. Thanks to our EPRDF fighters who sacrificed their lives for peace, democracy and equality. What is left is to fight and win backwardness and poverty and to make it history. In this matter, Ethiopians should work day and night hand to hand with the government to bring sustainable development for future generation.

Let me cite a great Canadian leader, Ex PM Pierre Trudeau, a genius Liberal party leader, who govern Canada for four terms and transformed the country to be one of the richest in the world. Without the Liberal party under his leadership today’s powerful Canada wound not have happened. Similarly, Ethiopia needs EPRDF and PM Meles to exploit his intelligence to succeed in bringing reasonable development in short period of time and make poverty history.
