There is no room for an undemocratic and unconstitutional

political organization in  Ethiopia

The Ethiopian-American Consensus Forum strongly condemns the anti- peace and anti- democratic political organization of Ginbot 7and its attempts to wage terrorism against the people and the government of Ethiopia, as reported by BBC and the Associate Press on April 25, 2009.  The Consensus Forum opposes the “Ginbot 7 group” led by Berhanu Nega, convicted of treason by the Ethiopian courts and now self-exiled in the United States.  Berhanu Nega and his associates are stuck in the past, preferring to mire in an outdated and unrealistic desire to use violence to overthrow the democratically-elected government of Ethiopia.

There should be no pardons for those who abuse the country’s constitution and attempt to subvert the rule of law.  The Forum believes no one is above the law and those who are found guilty of attempting to overthrow the government by violent means should face justice in the courts and, if found guilty, be sentenced appropriately and made to serve their time with no chance of pardons.

The only ones profiting from the actions of terrorist organizations such as Ginbot 7 are the self-serving leaders who wish to seize power for their own self-aggrandizement at the expense of the Ethiopian people.

The Consensus Forum would like to express its utmost appreciation to Ethiopia’s national intelligence service for its monumental efforts in protecting the security of the Ethiopian people
