Diplomacy is Working for Both Sides

Diplomacy is Working for Both Sides

a collection of pieces of contribution of a day from individuals creates sustainable life for millions and for life time.

Berhane Berhe T.

It is said that the race lasts a few hours while its effect lasts forever. It is true! Likewise, I say, a collection of pieces of contribution of a day from individuals creates sustainable life for millions and for life time. While the piece of contribution from an individual doesnt have significant harm in his/her monthly budget allocation piece of contribution from thousands saves millions lives in a sustainable manner. In line with this, we Ethiopians say ሀምሳ ሎሚ ለአንድ ሰዉ ሸክሙ ነዉ ለሀምሳ ሰዉ ግን ጌጡ ነዉ። It is an Ethiopian alphabet and its literal meaning is that it is difficult to carry 50 lemons for an individual but it is beautification for 50 persons. With these principles, I joined Tanzanian citizens and residents today to show my solidarity in the event of Rotary Dar Marathon 14th 2018.

The objective of the years Dar Rotary Marathon is raising funds towards building a Clinic at the Comprehensive Community Based Rehabilitation in Tanzania (CCBRT). The fund goes to enhance subsidized care in the disability hospital. And therefore, though I was not officially representing the Ethiopian Embassy in Dar Es Salaam, my presence was aimed at realizing my own principle that .diplomacy is working for both sides. because diplomacy is at all cooperation for mutual economic development and benefits. And enhancing the health sector is the centre of economic and human development because where there is no health or human life there is nothing. Saying this, I just want to make clear to the participants of the race as some of them were staring at what I was dressed with written motto of the Ethiopian Alphabet. In line with the T-shirt of the day I received from the organizers I had an Ethiopia T-shirt with a statement saying ግንቦት 20 ጠንካራ የኢኮኖሚ ዲፕሎማሲ ለፈጣን የኢኮኖሚ እድገታችን The statement goes with the objective of the race. Literally it means that strong economic diplomacy for economic growth.

Though the motto was crafted in 2007(Ethiopian calendar) for the commemoration day of the Dawn fall of the Dergue Regime, May 20, 1983, (Ethiopian calendar) the message of the motto works everywhere and at all time. And it is obvious that one of the major focus of the Tanzanian and Ethiopian Foreign policy is creating strong and sustainable economy through different strategic goals like what we did in Dare Es Salaam today. Provided that all rights are interdependent and needs to be realized at equal footing, enhancing the health sector shall be considered as a strategic sector in creating strong economy. Where there is no healthy society there are no workers who can build up the economy. Tanzani! Keep It up! Once again, diplomacy is working for both sides!
