The current and burning issue that has overwhelmingly taken a wider area coverage of the print and electronic media of the world is the satanic and barbaric deeds of the ISIS on the innocent Ethiopian migrants in Libya. This militant merciless group has been committing different barbaric and evil deeds upon innocent civilians all over the world-especially in the Middle East. The horrific ritual of beheading of journalists, relief workers, innocent civilians or migrants has become their daily jobs. Furthermore, it is also involved in the destruction of religious and historical sites all over the Middle East and Africa. This barbaric and satanic act does not have any religious basis and does not represent any faith. Majority of Muslims reject and condemn extremism and terrorism. Muslims and Islamic scholars all over the world have condemned any kind of terrorism. The use of religious reference is merely a cover up used to incite followers.
The recent incident encountered in Libya is a concrete evidence that this self-appointed Islamist militant is waging war against Ethiopia and its citizens.
What should be known is that Ethiopia is changing now-thanks to the gallant freedom fighters of TPLE/EPRDF who brought this peace, development, democracy, and security to Ethiopia. In the last Seventeen Years of bitter struggle, MUSLIMS AND CHRISTIANS have fought together against the Military Junta-the Dergue without any difference. As a result, the Constitution that guarantees the equality of all religions, Nations, Nationalities and peoples of Ethiopia is ratified . Nowadays, no one can create any crack between the Muslims and Christians in Ethiopia as there is a historical peaceful co-existence for thousands of years.
Apart from this, Ethiopia is in the Renaissance period. Every citizen is trying their best to get out of poverty. For this case, the developmental and democratic state has designed a Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) that has taken in to account the Natural Resources we are endowed with, the labour forces we have, and the minimum capital we have. The aim of these anti-peace and development forces is to put pressure on our country, as it is becoming the role model for the other African countries in combating terrorism and poverty at the same time, and set back these development endeavors. But they have to know that it is a FUTILE EFFORT. Ethiopia cannot and will not be hindered from its development and Renaissance agenda.
At this time Ethiopia is changing in all sectors - economically, socially, and politically .It is creating different jobs for the youth. The youth are already engaged in different jobs. There is a conducive atmosphere for the young. They are changing themselves and their families, but it needs much effort to make it sustainable.
The other point is that Ethiopia has declared a three day National Mourning in recognition of the agony of its people. We are not alone in combating the evil deeds of ISIS. The international community is with us. Different leaders have expressed their condolences.
this terrorist groups the president of the United States of America ,BARAK OBAMA said ,’’ Still, we continue to
face a terrorist threat. We cannot erase every trace of evil from the world,
and small groups of killers have the capacity to do great harm. That was the
case before 9/11, and that remains true today. That's why we must remain
vigilant as threats emerge. At this moment, the greatest threats come from the
Middle East and North Africa, where radical groups exploit grievances for their
own gain. And one of those groups is ISIL - which calls itself the "Islamic
Now let's make two things clear: ISIL is not "Islamic." No religion condones the killing of innocents, and the vast majority of ISIL's victims have been Muslim. And ISIL is certainly not a state. It was formerly al Qaeda's affiliate in Iraq, and has taken advantage of sectarian strife and Syria's civil war to gain territory on both sides of the Iraq-Syrian border. It is recognized by no government, nor the people it subjugates. ISIL is a terrorist organization, pure and simple. And it has no vision other than the slaughter of all who stand in its way.
This shows that it does not have any religious basis and it is a threat to the world peace and stability.
Therefore, we Ethiopians will remain strong and united against the satanic and barbaric deeds of ISIS as there is a clear and present danger for the world in general and Africa and Ethiopia in particular. All Ethiopians and peace loving human beings should remain the voice for the voiceless in the international forum to wipe out these inhuman creatures of the devil.
