Birds of the same feather - Parties in Crisis>
The Republican Party in the USA and the Die-hard Ethiopian opposition seem to run in parallel these days - they understand change is in the air but fight it anyway or believe window dressing with a short leash would do the trick to turn things to their liking. There is nothing more symbolic than the bout between Michael Steel and Rush Limbough. ...Micheal Steel may be brilliant in his own right but as shown in his first showdown with Rush Limbough he has to back down and toe the line of the die hard conservatives who seem to like the country to burn than see Obama to succeed even if it is for the sake of every body in the country. Likewise our die hard rather see Ethiopia burn than see the emergence of Ethiopian out of poverty under the EPRDF. They do not get the fact that the “KECHAF CHAF 26 MILLION YE ETHIOPIA HIZB MERTON” is figment of their imagination and that not every one sings to their tune and to their disbelief there are Ethiopians who do not subscribe to their thinking. Whether in America or Ethiopia generational change are inevitable. The old will not go with out a fight or hoping that things will be assuaged by window dressing. America is transforming from the sordid history of race relation and Republican trickle down philosophy and deregulation that threatened the world economy and the Republican Party has to unclich from the narrow far right if it is to be viable for future election. Ethiopia is emerging from the zero-sum game politics of the 60's and from the grip of chauvinists who see only one people singing their tune regardless of their interest. Ethiopia is no more one country with one religion! It is a democratic country with its people enjoining many religions with many divergent interest represented in a Federal System. |
