Seifu Fentahun interview with Bereket Simon - Aug 2018
We were mad and still mad with Bereket for failing us and failing to keep the promise! However, we are very grateful for his tenacity and critical role he has played throughout his life! ANDM and EPRDF will be the main losers if they do not exploit such senior leaders know-how going forward. ANDM and TPLF must stop the use and throw approach with their senior leaders! If the latest news about development projects is true, there is hope Ethiopia is still on the right track. Jawar and Tamagn may be the victims of "ደሮ ሲያታልሉዋት በ መጫኛ ጣሉዋት" Meaning the change that Jawar and Tamagn company are bracing is simply a developmental state trying to accommodate fringe elements of society! The large reception crowd may be the መጫኛ!!
China hosts African leaders amid aid criticism Beijing (AFP) - China hosts African leaders Monday for a summit aimed at promoting Beijing's vision for development on the continent,... Djibouti has become heavily dependent on Chinese financing after China opened its first overseas military base in the Horn of Africa country last year, a powerful signal of the continent's strategic importance to Beijing. No wonder why the USA has suddenly shifted its policy on Ethiopia! The USA seems inclined to live with a chaotic Ethiopia that is unable to play a critical role in the Chinese ambition that involves Djibouti !

Hyperinflation Consider yourself fortunate if you’ve never lived with the fear that prices of basic goods and services could rise uncontrollably. In the US and Western Europe, inflation rates have been so low for so long that the double-digit increases of the 1970s are a distant memory, or just a history lesson.

StanChart CEO Winters Wants to 'Take a Look' at Ethiopia Banking One emerging market has so far eluded Standard Chartered Plc Chief Executive Officer Bill Winters: Ethiopia.
Winters, head of London-based Standard Chartered since mid-2015, would "love to think that there are opportunities" in Ethiopia, he said in an interview... "The underlying fundamentals are pretty interesting," said Winters. It is sad EPRDF Officials are giving up on the country after building such an envious economy! What really happened to Ethiopian politicians? How could they fail to manage the democratic process with such economic fundamentals? EPRDF government allowing mob politics and extremists to enforce rule of law is shameful! Sad!
EPRDF 11th Hour!--
The biggest challenge for Chairman Abiy is coming soon! During the last EPRDF executive meeting, leaders were able to list all the critical issues for discussion. All indications are there will be a meeting soon to iron out the differences and to resolve all outstanding issues before EPRDF's Congress date is set. As you all know all four member organization will have to hold their own individual congress before the EPRDF Congress is held. Rumors circulating around is OPDO may be second-guessing its relationship with ANDM given ANDM's latest reapproach with extremists and die-hard elements within the Amhara community. Similarly, TPLF is seriously evaluating its stand on how to work with the new EPRDF government. Many people who have contacted us are arguing for TPLF to rethink its approach and work with the Federalist forces within EPRDF to defeat Chavunists. The ball is on Abiy's desk now. EPRDF's fate is at the hand of Abiy and his influence to keep member organizations within the front will be tested soon.

Abiy's first Q&A raises more questions than answers Partisans will consider Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s first conference as either a glass half full or half empty. Others will be simply underwhelmed by his performance.Given the potential importance of the event, the media coverage was scanty, as if the press did not have much to get their teeth into during the two and a half hour session.
