Post Meles Observations
Meley Sib Sep 19, 2012-
Contrary to widely spread speculations both at home and in the Diaspora, EPRDF has demonstrated its political maturity, more than ever before in the last two weeks. That the transition went smoothly to the new generation of leader’s as hinted both in the constitution and prior decision of the party (Metekakat) is a big step forward. More importantly the fact that the party has set term limits (two term maximum and retirement age of 65) on the Chairman of the party is even more significant development .
Gezategaru Online Community held memorial service for PM Meles. Did San Jose officials raise the wrong Ethiopian flag?
"Yes they did!"
An international incident of sorts arose over an Ethiopian flag raising at San Jose City Hall to honor the African country's New Year, which begins on Sept. 11. Yohannes Mesfine, an Ethiopian-American businessman who lives in Palo Alto, says it didn't. The banner that went up lacked the national emblem -- a light-blue disk with a yellow pentagram symbol -- which the country adopted in 1996. That's the flag that the U.S. State Department recognizes.

Former U.S. Diplomat Lauds Selection of Ethiopia’s New Ruling Party Leader
David Shinn, former U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, said he is not surprised by Hailemariam’s elevation to the party’s top spot.
“I think it was almost predictable in that Hailemariam was being groomed by Prime Minister Meles to succeed him.
It is amazing and sad people like David Shinn have not grasped what the woyane revolution is all about yet! The main reason the woyane revolution succeeded against all odds is because it was and is a popular revolution any Ethiopian of any color can easily adapt. The woyane revolution that started in Tigray is borderless today, thus, it does not matter from which ethnic the next prime minister will be. What matters is if the person understands the essence of the woyane revolution! Laboring on the number of the Tigrean population is meaningless from this perspective. The Revolution has spread and today millions of Ethiopians from north to south are the proud promise keepers of the woyane revolution.
Meles Zenawi and Democracy
G. E. Gorfu Sept. 14, 2012 - What is democracy? It is elusive. Democracy is defined as the voice of the people, or the voice of the majority; sometimes it is truncated as “One man one vote.” We see how messy democracy can be when we watch the political process in America where it had been exercised for over two centuries,
Relinquishing Diasporic Views Samuel Kidane 9/17/12--History has it Ethiopian leaders since the down of ancient civilizations were highly preoccupied with the task of building their powers on the expense of their subjects

We wonder if what PM Meles used to call "idiots" includes the folks at IMF? We are sure ICG, International Rivers and the small time hustlers from the extremist Ethiopian Diaspora are included but we wonder if there are others too? Anyone who suggest the most unifying and critical development project that has both economical and political advantage be dropped ought to be included in the idiots camp...which the Ethiopian government should ignore and not waste a second of development time!
