It is not an exaggeration if we tell you that some of VOA Amharic presenters were deeply in love with Kinjit that was! Unlike today “Ye zaren ayadregewna” some of these people were trying to promote Kinjit as much as the law of the United States allowed them to do without causing any diplomatic problems. Today their darling Kinjit is no more! And it shows! Tizita Belachew has a new program called Democracy! She invited Ato Mekonne Kassa and “ye kedemo kinjit afe qelate” (ex speaker for Kinjit North America) Gezachew Legesse to discuss economic development and democracy in Ethiopia.

Tizita next time do your job as a radio host and you do the asking. Let the guests answer your questions! Don't surrender your radio host role to one that has a temper tantrum.Next time play a neutral role as a radio host.

W/ro Shashu argues the democratic process is moving forward regardless of the challenges the country is facing everyday while Ato Yared argues the pessimist view that the sky is falling and the country is in dire situation!
Medrek is said to have decided to join the negotiating table it left a while back. This comes after, we are told, their handlers (promoters) pressured them to join. Next comes how the extremist supporters in Diaspora will take such news.
From Donald N. Levine to Mehari Maru
Please accept my immediate and unqualified apology for the apparent misinformation contained in my note about Ato Mehari. That was obviously based on a faulty recollection which I deeply regret....DL
-------------- Response to Prof. Donald Levine’s e-mail
Prof. Donald Levine and I have recent and very good acquaintance. I am one of those Ethiopians who appreciate his contributions to Ethiopian academic and political discourse.
This aside, I want to express my deep disappointment regarding his e-mail which reported something I have never said. I, thus, would like to clearly and unequivocally state that:
1. I have never in my entire life met the PM, and never said to anybody I have meet the PM let alone to extend my advice on any matter whatsoever.
2. Also I have never been involved in any case regarding the indictment of elected MPs.
Sincerely,
Mehari Taddele Maru

In a trend that will change the country, leadership of China's Communist Party is slowly passing from functionaries trained in engineering to those educated in softer sciences like law.In the beginning there were firebrand revolutionaries like Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. Then came the engineers. China's post-Mao leadership has been dominated by engineers of varying stripes.

Egyptian officials work "behind closed doors" to block funding for upstream

The Front Line in Somalia: Dead Shebab Fighter believed to be from Eritrea!
By Jeffrey Gettleman
MOGADISHU, Somalia – We duck through a hole in a wall along this city’s blasted-out waterfront, following teenage gunmen with skinny shoulders and enormous weapons...the evidence is here, sprawled out in the streets. According to the front-line soldiers, the dead Shabab fighter was from Eritrea, a tiny but nettlesome African country widely suspected of funneling arms to Somalia’s insurgents...
