Bereket said the plotters belonged to the Ginbot 7 (May 15) opposition group, saying it was linked to the Coalition for Unity and Democracy (CUD) headed by Berhanu Nega, currently living in the United States.
He said the government believed that the "desperado" group was not planning to stage a coup, but intended "assassinating individuals, high ranking government officials and destroying some public facilities and utilities ... like telecom services and electricity utilities...
Berhanu Nega is afraid to go back to Ethiopia! We wonder why? It could not be because of his Kinjit politics since Eng Hailu, Dr Yacob, and Prof Mesfin...e.t.c are all in Ethiopia waging peaceful struggle. It couldn’t be because he was denied an election win since EPRDF admitted they lost the city of Addis so much so the then city government held consultation meeting with Dr Berhanu and Kinjit transitional team about transfer of power. Infact he is the one that run away from taking responsibility to administer Addis Ababa City govt. So why is he afraid to return to Ethiopia? He sure looks scared though!
