Ethiopia is at Peace with Itself Amen Teferi 06-04-18 - Well, for the most part of the last two decades, Ethiopia had been peaceful and tranquil amidst the seemingly ever volatile region of the Horn of Africa. However, it has recently faced with the most serious political chaos that had a little bit subsided with the promulgation of the state of emergency and fully come to halt with Dr. Abiy Ahmed’s coming to power.

China scales back investment in Ethiopia
For much of the last decade Ethiopia has been a leading investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly for China. But Beijing’s waning enthusiasm for the region’s fastest-growing economy reflects the challenges facing Abiy Ahmed, the prime minister, as he juggles demands from a public hungry for both democracy and development and myriad vested interests. Neo-Liberalist will do everything to control an economy! They do not like Developmental State regimes anywhere in the world. PM Abiy govt should not give in to these forces. Losing China at this stage of development is critical to Ethiopia! The govt should instead consolidate the gains so far and forge ahead with China with a new vigor and revolutionary democrats should fight tooth to nail to continue the development agenda!
Open Letter to PM Abiy from Union of Tigreans in North America UTNA June 1st, 2018 - The Union urges the PM to disinvite ESAT a Diaspora-based television since it has openly agitated against Tigreans. How CRISPR Could Transform Global Development By Bill Gates
Today, more people are living healthy, productive lives than ever before. This good news may come as a surprise, but there is plenty of evidence for it. Since the early 1990s, global child mortality has been cut in half. There have been massive reductions in cases of tuberculosis, malaria, and HIV/AIDS. We hope the good philanthropic and technologist man will see the need to keep Ethiopia's natural God-given gift of being home to many climate and disease resistive plants and animals.
Something wrongly printed in our mind Haile B 06-02-18 - We didn't really study English in the way we ought to do so. Especially, we Ethiopians as second language learners have been adopting the wrong way of learning. We neither got the proper...

Ethiopian Sports Federation in North America (ESFNA) has voted not to accept Prime Minister Abiy May 30, 2018 - ESFNA Board of Directors have voted not to accept the Prime Minister’s desire to address Ethiopians in North America during the Dallas tournament in July, but request it to be at a future tournament.
This is a good lesson for the young PM! To begin with, he should not have availed himself to be ridiculed by this group! The North America Ethiopian Diaspora is divided and to expect a warm welcome by the extremists while neglecting his own Ethnic community was a bad move! Also, the premier should have known the diaspora community is dysfunctional in many ways because the extremists within them have become a tool for foreign adversaries of Ethiopia and they have a choke hold on some if not all of the Ethnic communities! PM Abiy meet these folks head high and as a prime minister of the new Federal Ethiopia!
Ethiopia is Stable for Now. How Long Will Pandora's Box Stay Closed? Teklemariam (PhD) May 29, 2018 - Meles was the sole architect of all the major policies of the country that brought about double-digit economic growth for more than a decade. On U.S.-Africa Relations: Interview with David Shinn I interviewed David Shinn about the US policy in Africa under President Donald Trump, China’s expanding influence in Africa and how that affects the US presence in the region and the security of the Horn of Africa which is experiencing a new era of militarization by regional powers in the Middle East, like Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Turkey.
There is contention between Liberal and Abyotawi Democracy. It is imperative that we all follow the developments in the country. We think there are outside powers that are hell bent to destabilize the country and derail the gains of the last 27 years.[Readers Comment]
Ethiopia to double road network to 200,000km by 2020 Rapidly industrialising Ethiopia, Africa’s second most populous country, has set an ambitious target to double the length of its road network by 2020 from its extent in 2015.
The government’s Roads Authority revealed the target on Monday, 28 May, while reporting progress on the second five-year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP-II), which runs from 2015 to 2020. This is indeed good news if it is coming from the govt of PM Abiy. The development agenda of the past should not give way to feel good politics that means nothing in the end! Stay the course and Ethiopia will have rooms for all!
Ethiopia Already Is the 'China of Africa' Will Ethiopia become "the China of Africa"? The question often comes up in an economic context: Ethiopia's growth rate is expected to be 8.5 percent this year, topping China's projected 6.5 percent. Over the past decade, Ethiopia has averaged about 10 percent growth. Behind those flashy numbers, however, is an undervalued common feature: Both countries feel secure about their pasts and have a definite vision for their futures. Both countries believe that they are destined to be great. It is true Ethiopia has come a long way over the last 27 years. Thanks to Revolutionary Democrats! The problem is will it continue the upward growth trajectory or be mired in adolescence democratic process struggle? If the current trend of feel-good politics does not lead to an economic progress Ethiopia will go back to square one!PM Abiy you have a huge task at hand!
