Addis Ababa, June 7, 2018 (FBC) –The U.S. government yesterday delivered a C-130 aircraft to the Ethiopian Air Force.U.S. Ambassador to Ethiopia, Michael Raynor participated in a ceremony held at Bishoftu to deliver the aircraft on behalf of the United States Government to Ethiopian Air Force Head, General Adem Mohammed.
Herman Cohen and company must do better to reward PM Abiy government now they have almost succeeded to get their wishes! C130 is okay but surely Mr. Cohen must have few Western companies and investors ready to invest in Ethiopian Airlines and Ethio Teleco! After all the neo-liberals cannot be much interested in upsetting Egypt with the donation of a C130!. PM Abiy people are watching if you will be honoring the Developmental State agenda or run the country into the unknown!
National Day celebrated at time of renewal

Ethiopia Will 'Fully Accept' 2000 Peace Agreement with Eritrea It remains unclear how the Eritrean government will respond to Ethiopia's announcement. But Ms. Bruton said she thought that "Ethiopia is really signaling its seriousness" to finally resolve the dispute. PM Abiy government must be sure that there will be peace indeed thereafter if it is to sit down for a give and take negotiation with the one man regime in Eritrea! As a young recruit PM Abiy was stationed in Badme area, in fact, it is not an exaggeration if I say, he is where he is today because of his Badme story! I suspect there may be some calculus involved for the Ethiopian government to issue the current decision to accept a nonexistent peace agreement. Be that as it may, no one should second guess any lopsided agreement will bring peace! Isaias Afeworki is not interested in peace! What he is interested is the dismantling of the TPLF! The one man regime should not be rewarded. The best option now is, to continue the no war no peace or work hard to remove the madman from Eritrea using Eritreans themselves! To begin with, the EPRDF regime has a lot in its hand to do before it starts to addresses this issue. First, resolve all internal organizational matters, second, finish Hedase Dam!
Note: To the feeble minds out there, this issue will not divide TPLF and the people of Tigrai! [Zeru Hagos June 06, 2018]
'Opening' for investors as Ethiopia lifts state of emergency East African growth hub Ethiopia lifted its state of emergency two months early on Tuesday, and now could be the time for frontier market investors to dive in, according to analysts. Tatebo Chika - EPRDF Member parties should blame themselves for bringing chaos to the country! Most people I talked believe the mayhem that engulphed the country over the past few years is simply the making of EPRDF leaders. They failed to lead due to internal bickering! It is shame leaders were so shortsighted they allowed the economy to crumble and allow extremists to have a field day. If things do not improve soon the government must prepare the country for an early election! [Readers Comment]
EPRDF Executive Statement- June 05 2018 EPRDF decides to partial privatization of major Industries and Public Companies while maintaining the spirit of a Developmental State guideline. This is a major decision and may facilitate Ethiopia acceptance to WTO. The executive also affirms the government stands to accept the Algiers decision without precondition. PM Abiy government is going to face a strong headwind to implement the decision(s). Even though the privatization scheme has been one of the agenda for PM Meles and Hailemariam government in the past many assumed some of the public companies were to be protected.

China scales back investment in Ethiopia
For much of the last decade Ethiopia has been a leading investment destination in sub-Saharan Africa, particularly for China. But Beijing’s waning enthusiasm for the region’s fastest-growing economy reflects the challenges facing Abiy Ahmed, the prime minister, as he juggles demands from a public hungry for both democracy and development and myriad vested interests. Neo-Liberalist will do everything to control an economy! They do not like Developmental State regimes anywhere in the world. PM Abiy govt should not give in to these forces. Losing China at this stage of development is critical to Ethiopia! The govt should instead consolidate the gains so far and forge ahead with China with a new vigor and revolutionary democrats should fight tooth to nail to continue the development agenda!
