A senior American official has said there is no evidence to support keeping Sudan on a list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
Sudan envoy Scott Gration also said the US would have to "unwind" sanctions imposed as a result of that status. A Sudanese official welcomed what he called "positive signals" from the US.
Comment:Perhaps and this is big perhaps, the Obama administration has finally realized that the US cannot impose at will its ill advised prescription for anything that is ailing the Horn countries. Even the belligerent government of Eritrea is being given ample time to change direction with the current Susan Rice warning! Will Issayas Afeworki listen is a big question but he must know he cannot count on Beshir or Sudan any more...!

TDA Will Celebrate its 20th Year Anniversary

The Tigray Development Association (TDA) will celebrate its 20th year anniversary in August 2009. The association has taken the month of August as a development month and will organize several events to be held in Tigrai-Mekelle, Washington D.C, Frankfurt and Addis Ababa. The events include; Tigray Development Symposium (TDS-2009), Family Festival “Ashenda” as its background, Youths week sports and athletics, and Trade mission.

Ethiopia Inflation Slumps to 2.7% as Food Price Drops

July 27 (Bloomberg) -- Ethiopia’s inflation rate plunged to 2.7 percent in June after food prices, the biggest component in the consumer price index, declined.
Inflation slowed from 14.2 percent in May, the Addis Ababa- based Central Statistical Agency said on its Web site today. Food prices, which make up 57 percent of the index, fell an annual 3.4 percent, after gaining 11.6 percent the month before.
