A Week in the Horn
(July 31 - 2009)
A senior American official has said there is no evidence to support keeping Sudan on a list of countries that sponsor terrorism.
Sudan envoy Scott Gration also said the US would have to "unwind" sanctions imposed as a result of that status. A Sudanese official welcomed what he called "positive signals" from the US.
Comment:Perhaps and this is big perhaps, the Obama administration has finally realized that the US cannot impose at will its ill advised prescription for anything that is ailing the Horn countries. Even the belligerent government of Eritrea is being given ample time to change direction with the current Susan Rice warning! Will Issayas Afeworki listen is a big question but he must know he cannot count on Beshir or Sudan any more...!
