Constructive, responsible and mature dialogue for forging understanding Selam Ethiopia 1-5-19 - Recently, I came across a very fascinating article @ awate.com, entitled "Towards a mature and meaningful exchange", in reference to the type of engagement among the Eritrean Community globally. Let me begin by admitting that I am not familiar with the community's exchange, however, I found the content of the article very relevant to our own situation where we Ethiopians lack mature, civilized and meaningful dialogue...

ጎበኙFanaBC 1-04-19- We really want to appreciate the PMs sudden desire to pay attention to the internal matter and the economy but what is wrong with FANABC? The picture and the story do not go together? What is the real news behind this news FANABC wants us to read? That Gen Seare is now the head of the road authority and acting Attorney General or that the PM and the Military are in good terms? FANABC, if you fail to remain independent and trustworthy then in due time you will be simply shunned like the many tabloid papers and news outlets.
The Trouble With Ethiopia's Ethnic Federalism Like much of Africa, Ethiopia is at a crossroads. Neither the centralized republic instituted by the Derg military junta in 1974 nor the ethnic federalism of Mr. Zenawi's 1994 Constitution points to a way forward.Mr. Abiy can achieve real progress if Ethiopia embraces a different kind of federation -territorial and not ethnic- where rights in a federal unit are dispensed not on the basis of ethnicity but on the residence. It is really sad to realize the Federal System in Ethiopia is yet to be understood for what it is! The constitution or the Federal arrangement states minorities are to be respected and have constitutional rights anywhere in the country. Identity politics is not the reason Ethiopia is suffering today. It is suffering because its leaders have failed to govern the country fair and square now and in the past!. Otherwise, Ethiopians from all walk of life have been living harmoniously in the country for hundreds of years regardless of the state/regional boundaries! Even during EPRDF time, last 27 years, people were living side by side despite all the issues with good governance! Killing each other is a recent phenomenon and it is due to inept and corrupt political leaders!
Trump Vs Abiy TeKa 1-03-19
I am compelled to make a comparison between President Trump and the new Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed. Anyway, I see many similarities between these two accidental leaders of two countries of immense significance on their own rights.
Eritreans Are Forced to Be Obsessed with Ethiopia Last April I was elated by your election to the position of Prime Minister, and for the first few days, I was very optimistic and very impressed with the way you handled the myriad of Ethiopian crisis. Sadly, that admiration waned quickly, after which it was an anti-climax when you gravitated towards Isaias Afwerki... We were looking for Wedi Afom customary year-end speech or interview to post to greet our esteemed northern brothers and sisters on their new year, however, we could not find any except a short note at shabait.com. Hoping Wedi Afom is alright, we found this at Awate.com to fill in the gap.

Team Lemma's choice: power or peace? Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Oromia President Lemma Megersa have taken the country by storm, but they have work to do at home: the Oromo people want solutions for issues they have protested about since 2014.Oromo are still being killed by soldiers; Afaan Oromo is not a federal government working language; Oromia's constitutional "special interest" in Addis Ababa is not settled; and Oromo are still being unfairly evicted, especially from around Addis Ababa.
The Ethiopian Prime Minister who captured Africa's imagination Abiy Ahmed took over as Ethiopia's Prime Minister in April. At 42, he carved a path through Ethiopia's tense, ethnically divided landscape by becoming the first Oromo to lead his country.
The Oromo, Ethiopia's largest ethnic group, had never been in prominent positions of power. Grievances of their economic and political exclusion drove anti-government protests across the country. According to the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre, 1.4 million people were displaced in the first six months of 2018 because of ethnic conflicts in Ethiopia. [እነዚህ ሰዎች

If you don't like the current form of government - don't just keep quiet Kebour Ghenna Dec 2018 - Ethiopia's regional states are quickly becoming a loose confederation of autonomous states, less and less bound by a common law. Today, any form of equal justice is increasingly inaccessible across the nation. Most states have literally dismantled the existing federal norms.
Eritrea closes border crossings to Ethiopian travelers DDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – Eritrea has partially closed two border crossings with Ethiopia that opened this year after the former East African rivals made peace and restored relations, an Ethiopian official said Friday.
Thousands of people have crossed the border that had been closed for two decades, with traders pursuing brisk business and families reuniting after years apart. It is good the international community is aware of the development. While Eritreans are welcome to Ethiopia free, Ethiopians are denied entry! And, Abiy government still thinks it is running a respected government? Something is wrong with Abiy and the Oromo elites running the government!
BBC Interview with OLF Military Leader in Western Oromia It is really maddening after all the hard work over the last 28 years, the inept EPRDF leaders have decided the fate of the country to be determined by yet another inept government. The Oromo people deserve peace and the only way out of the current dilemma is to hold an election! Let the Oromo people decide who they want to run their government!
