The two young sisters named Muluberhan Melaku and Frehiwot Melaku are residents of Adwa town. Doctors from Bethel General Hospital in Addis Ababa have said they need kidney replacements. Their medical treatments, including kidney replacements, have to be done in a foreign country. This creates a huge financial burden which the family cannot afford. As such, they are appealing for people’s generous assistance. The mother of the two sisters is donating one of her kidneys but a second kidney has to be purchased. The mother lost her third daughter to a similar disease last year. The mother has sold her only house.
We think this is an opportunity to make a difference, perhaps to save lives in the spirit of the New Year and Ethiopian Christmas! Please keep in mind, time is against us and let us act quickly and donate as much as we can! The sisters are going through kidneys dialysis treatment twice a week.

Contemporary Tigrean History in the eyes of veteran former TPLF members.
The dying extremists are trying to rewrite the splendid history of the Tigrean masses and TPLF using handful dubious characters. What the history of Tigrean masses and TPLF tell us is that TPLF victory became a reality due to the tenacity of the individual fighters. The heroes and heroines died knowing there will be millions of promise keepers left behind to keep their history intact. It is with that spirit Diaspora Tigreans and friends of the TPLF gather for online discussion to hear veteran TPLF fighters Bisrat Amare, Col Yitbarek Amare and Guish G/mariam

“Red of the sea” Playing a strange game
Amen Teferi Jan 12, 2012, Eritrea is said to derive its name from the Greek word erythrea, meaning ‘red’. Historians tell us that it was coined from the famous Periplus of the Erythrean Sea. And Periplus of the Erythrean Sea is a trade or shipping manual written by a Greek-speaking ...
Ethiopia Sale of State Assets Would Raise $7.6 Billion
Ethiopia’s government would raise 132 billion birr ($7.6 billion) if it sold the country’s five biggest state-owned companies to private investors, Access Capital SC said. The sale of Ethiopian Airlines Enterprises, sub-Saharan Africa’s second-biggest carrier, Ethiopian Shipping Lines, Ethio Telecom, the Ethiopian Insurance Corp. and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia would generate funds... ... sometimes we wonder if the neoliberals or a.k.a "westerners" have already implanted the tools they will use once "disaster capitalism" reaches our country!. Otherwise, it will be interesting to read the full report by access capital to understand their logic! We hope the GTP is not considered our version of "Disaster Capitalism"?
Swedish journalists in Ethiopia to seek pardon
STOCKHOLM (AP) — Two Swedish journalists convicted of supporting terrorism in Ethiopia say they will seek a pardon. Martin Schibbye and Johan Persson said "there's a tradition of pardoning and forgiving in Ethiopia and we choose to trust in this tradition."
It is sad but the reality is the pardon process has been cheapened! We are hoping against hope the government is indeed seeing a benefit to the nation by the whole exercise of pardon done over the last few years! We do not!. If the two gentle men had admitted their guilt from the get go,we are sure, the government would have found ways to release them. But they did not, they fought their case in court and lost. Now they want to ask for pardon with out serving the minimum!
The depressing New Year message for Eritreans and the Region
As we have pointed out last week, for the New Year, President Isaias Afeworki gave a lengthy briefing on a wide range of issues to his people. In addition to his marathon lecture on far-flung issues of the world at large, of little or no relevance to Eritreans’...

Fog and complications within OLF raises false hope in Gimboat 7
Dilwenberu Nega 4th January 2012- If folly were grief every OLF supporter would weep. That would be your honest verdict if you had the misfortune of reading blurred and confused statements that was churned out by two groups both claiming to be Oromo Liberation Front (OLF). That the OLF has been on a downhill spiral ever since it walked out from the Transitional Government is an open secret. So, too, has been its relegation to the league of despicable quislings in the service of the fountainhead of terrorism in the Horn of Africa.
