There is a saying the more things change the more they stay the same! If you believe Jawar, Abiy came about because of the "qeero" generation desire for a better life and to undo ages of discrimination of the Oromo people by former Ethiopian governments. Today, Abiy's government is becoming the worst enemy of justice and Abyi himself unhinged to justice! He is becoming his own worst enemy by undermining the court system! Worst yesterday's civil right advocate like Meaza Ashenafi(the current president of the supreme court justice) is simply wagging the tail to the PM even though her own court is being undermined by him! How can Isayas Dagnaw and Teddy Manjus remain in jail without a cause and a judge order! What kind of Ethiopia does Abiy want to govern? Something is wrong with Abiy and our Oromo elites! Two wrongs do not make right! Read below Isayas Dagnew case Summary

How Ethiopia got its grain back
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia — For any first-time visitor to an Ethiopian restaurant, the signature experience is tearing off a piece of injera, a pancake-like bread, and using it to scoop up spicy meat or vegetable curries. The spongy, almost sourdough-like taste of injera comes from a grain called teff, a tiny seed found throughout the Ethiopian and Eritrean countryside ...

With more than a hundred million inhabitants and a mosaic of ethnic groups, Ethiopia is Africa's second-most populous country. Prime Minister Ahmed Abiy, who came to power in April 2018, has launched a campaign of political reforms after decades of autocratic rule. But not all Ethiopians are happy with the move. Although a member of the ruling coalition in Ethiopia, the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front appears to be a rival to the central authority in Addis-Abeba. Getachew Reda-- a senior official of the TPLF-spoke to Newsday'sAlan Kasujja in the regional capital Mekelle .-

Is the Honeymoon over for the New PM of Ethiopia?
Dereje Gizaw 2-7-19 - Having started from within and learned the ropes of EPRDF politics, the new popular Prime Minister of Ethiopia, PM Abiy Ahmed, has had a spectacular rise to power...But the exercise of canonizing a living person to such a degree barely a month after coming to power by raising expectations too high and potentially unattainable could be setting the PM up for failure.

GERD: An Emerging Continental Spirit of 'YES We Can'
Sami .Y 2-6-19 - Many consider the victory of Adwa as a pioneering victory of black people. Though this happened in Ethiopia, it will forever remain part of the golden glorious history of the black people. During the colonial era, Ethiopians did what seemed impossible by taking victory over the Italian invaders. By the same token, the nation is...

List of Border and Identity as well as National Peace and Reconciliation Commissioners
. Feb 5, 2019- As you all know The Tigrai regional parliament has rejected the border and identity commission as unconstitutional and logged a complaint. As expected the identity and border commission has no significant members from the Tigrai community! The two Tigrean Drs in the list namely, Gebru and Assefa were added to the list without their consent! The opposition to such commission from Tigreans is nearly universal!
Note:- According to the Ethiopian Constitution, any new law has to be posted on "Negarit Gazzetta" for it to become law and enacted. However, to date, the boundary and identity commission law has not been posted on "Negarit Gazeta"! Yet, the parliament and PM Abiy are busy appointing and approving commission members. Did our Oromo elites and elders know this is belittling them! Why can't they ask PM Abiy to have experienced professional advisors? Good or bad It is their government!

On Peace and Conflict
Aesop 02/01/19 - During the eve of the Ethio-Eritrean war 20 years ago, Meles said: "we need each and every peaceful day!". He was talking about what economists term an opportunity cost, i.e., what one might do other than killing, dying, and destroying. A developmental state employs every day to save lives (health-care), enlighten masses (spread education), and link people (expand infrastructure). A developmental state spares no time for a foolish war.

Many have explored the ways-"theoretical, historical, and empirical"-in which these two pillars are said to reinforce each other.By contrast, this Article will focus on an inherent instability in free market democracy.

The life and times of the Constant Lodgers-a la Addis
Samuel Estefanous 2 February 2019 - Five years ago, following a press release from the office of Addis mayor promising us (the wretched of Addis) the distribution by lot of 1,229 units of Condos I wrote and posted the passage quoted below...,

Ethiopia Says Economy Imbalanced, Needs Corrective Actions
The Ethiopian economy isn't generating enough to pay off loans the state took to finance the Horn of Africa nation's ambitious infrastructure and development programs, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said.Government investment in projects such as Africa's biggest hydro-electric dam, sugar projects and a series of industrial parks across the nation have yet to earn sufficient foreign currency, he told lawmakers in the capital, Addis Ababa. Ethiopia has rescheduled 60 percent of its loan repayments to 30 years from 10 years, he said.

Release Teddy Manjus!- PM Abiy, we keep hearing you saying your government has no political prisoner nor any journalist in prison. We had like to believe you but what are you gaining by jailing Teddy Manjus(see picture)?. We do not know Teddy Manjus but from what we know from social media, he was a simple facebook user like Jahwar! Many people used to say EPRDF is its own worst enemy because of the many glaring wrongdoings EPRDF members were engaged in, are you becoming your own worst enemy by jailing without a cause this young man?Teddy was supposed to be freed on bail but somehow your government is holding him in jail. PM Abiy, you can do better than jailing Teddy! There is nothing positive Ethiopians will learn from his continuing imprisonment! Your government can do better! Let people with no crime go free. This is true from what we hear, you are making it hard for those who are willing to serve you as a minister and judge! You do not need to repeat what the government before you have done. Two wrongs do not make right!! Release Teddy Manjus, he was just like Jahwar!

Stacey Y. Abrams - Recent political upheavals have reinvigorated a long-running debate about the role of identity in American politics—and especially American elections. Electoral politics have long been a lagging indicator of social change. For hundreds of years, the electorate was limited by laws that explicitly deprived women, African Americans,...

Linguistic regionalization is debilitating rather than facilitating regional development in Ethiopia
Dr. Yohannes Aberra Ayele 2-1-19 - The rationale for regionalization is to use the devolution of political power as a means to ensure appropriate and sustainable regional development as an end. The primacy of economy over politics is out of the question. The success or failure of politics depends on how it manages or mismanages...

Politicizing Eritrea peace perpetuates conflict cycle
Mehari Taddele Maru 1-31-19 - Early last month, Ethiopia Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Eritrean President Isaias Afewerki opened the Humera-Oumhajer border. It was more progress that builds on the end of a long standoff between the two nations. The new crossing should allow movement of people as part of the normalization. Unfortunately, and in keeping with the turbulent history of Ethio-Eritrean relations, this positive event was tainted by news of more protests in border areas...
