We need a vigilant Government Amen Teferi 12-25-17 - In what looked like a premature celebration of its success registered through the implementation of the “deep renewal” the EPRDF was in a mood of complacence. It had complacently declared the positive impact of its venture of self-scrutiny only shortly after to understand the preposterousness of its venture.
EPRDF Politics: PM Visit to Parliament Dec 25, 2017 - PM Hailemariam and four regional presidents briefed parliamentarians today(12/25/17).The premier along with the four presidents (Oromia,Tigrai, Amhara and Southern Nation and Nationalities) briefed the parliamentarians on the ongoing EPRDF executive meeting and told them the meeting is going well. The premier also briefed parliamentarians on the ongoing disturbance in Oromia. The premier along with the four presidents assured parliamentarians that the federal government is following all issues and that the government will hold those responsible for the mayhem in Oromia and elsewhere accountable! To be recalled, some from the Oromia delegation had asked the prime minister office for a briefing on this issue last week! It was delayed due to the ongoing EPRDF Executive Meeting.
Although some are fanning news about MPs from Amhara and Oromia joining hands, the reality is, only some MPs from Oromia have asked for PM Hailemariam briefing in regard to the alleged "killing of Oromos" and over all political developments! There is no division nor is there a concerted effort by any group to undermine the government within parliament. Parliamentarians were satisfied by the visit and the ongoing executive meeting update briefing given. Aigaforum Dec 25, 2017

EPRDF Politics: Light at the end of the tunnel!!
After an extensive discussion on democracy and inter party relationship, on the supremacy of law and Ethiopia’s unique federalism, the meeting is expected to finish within days. Although the leaders have discussed in details on all the issues there will be more meeting where individual parties will have to sort out their own issues. This meeting will not result in the dismissal or jailing of individuals accused of illegal activities! Leaders who failed to uphold EPRDF ideals and those who have been accused promoting anti federalism sentiments will be held accountable either within their own organization or at the institutions they are leading or working. The executive team is expected to issue general guidelines individual parties will have to follow based on the agreement reached which is believed to be extensive. As you known EPRDF congress has been postponed already to the maximum limit internal bylaws will allow. However, there is a rumor a request has been submitted to extend the congress date one more time! Given the current political development many we talked think extending the congress date will be extending the misery of Ethiopians.
Meantime, there was some drama by Parliamentarians on the issue of Addis Ababa and Oromia relationship outside EPRDF Executive meeting! The issue which has been tabled for discussion was postponed due to disagreement between MPs. Speaker Aba Dula was present for the committee level discussion but could not bring order as he had wished. The draft proclamation that will be discussed was drafted by OPDO we are told, yet, MPs from the OPDO could not agree how to go forward. Meantime BBC and likes are fanning this issue as if the sky is falling over parliament. In spite of all the negative developments light is at the end of the tunnel and EPRDF is expected to come out stronger! Aigaforum Dec 23, 2017

A specter haunts Africa today. Based on this line of thinking...
