The United Kingdom's Extreme Anti-Extremism Policy
Although it garnered little attention in the United States, the five-year anti-extremism strategy that British Prime Minister David Cameron announced last month during a major speech in Birmingham marked a significant moment in the evolution of Western counterradicalization policies...[If the British fail to use their age old institutions to curtail terrorist before they cause mayhem and are forced to pass a new law why are some Western countries hard on Ethiopia for its anti-terrorism and CSO law - a country that is barely recovering from civil war and abject poverty? ]

‘Woyanes’ in Addis, the People of Asko and ‘Yekatit’ 11 (1984 E.C.)
Endashaw Letera (05 August, 2015) - It was February 18, 1991 G.C. (‘Yekatit’ 11, 1984 E.C.), a year after –to be exact, 7 months after- EPRDF had toppled the Derg regime out on May 28. The place is the western outskirt of Addis Ababa...

ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia – During President Obama’s trip to Ethiopia, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency concluded a training grant with Ethiopian Airlines to enhance the skills and capabilities of the Airlines’ leadership and staff.

Stunning GIF shows moon crossing Earth from new satellite 1 million miles away
NASA just released a pretty amazing GIF from its brand new, solar wind-monitoring satellite DSCOVR. From one million miles away, the satellite captured the far side of the moon as it passed in front of Earth on July 16.

Against many odds it’s been a brilliant year for MoFA

Eritrea – Paths Out of Isolation
Two decades after achieving independence from Ethiopia, Eritrea is back in the European headlines above –all for a wave of refugees arriving in Europe. At the same time, a recent United Nations Commission on Human Rights report accuses the Eritrean regime of gross human rights violations...
As you know the one regime in Eritrea was trying hard to lobby the US government. It seems the effort has failed with President Obama visiting Ethiopia. The regime may be lobbying the Germans and other Europeans now! For the record:Ethiopia has said it is ready to sit down and talk on any issues and it is Eritrea which walked out of IGAD and belittled the AU in the first place. Are the lobbyist sure Isaias Afeworki is now a learned man and will behave according to international norms they are asking for Eritrea's integration to regional institutions?

    Don’t Bell the Cat
Amen Teferi 08-04-15 - In anticipation to the August 3, 2015, final decision of the Federal High Court that investigated, for the last three years, the case of the so-called “arbitration committee,” I have taken time to ponder on issues that are pertinent to the convicted...
Ever since the law of the country lifted its arms over the religious extremists, Aigaforum has declined to post any articles that pertained to this case. Since the court has passed its decision we think it is okay to post such articles now. We could not fathom why these people wanted to create such a problem? Of all countries in the world Ethiopia is the best country for religious freedom today! Islam and Christianity lived side by side for thousands of years in Ethiopia if not as equals but harmoniously! The current Ethiopian constitution has fixed the "inequality" that existed before! If there are people who may have been hoodwinked to copycat the Arab spring or the isis campaign in Ethiopia among the convicted it is time they show remorse and ask for forgiveness. We are sure the government will pardon them the same way it did to others who tried before them the other "color" of the revolution and failed only to get in trouble with the law!

    Tigray Festival 2015 - Seattle
Zenebe Nega (for UTNA) 08-04-15 - On the occasion of the 41st anniversary of the Union of Tigreans in North America (UTNA), Tigray Festival 2015 has been colorfully celebrated in Seattle

Jimmy Carter Is Correct that the U.S. Is No Longer a Democracy
"It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system. Now it's just an oligarchy with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or being elected president. And the same thing applies to governors, and U.S. Senators and congress members. So, now we've just seen a subversion of our political system..." Interesting! Ethiopia CSO law was passed to precisely stop foreign money influence on internal politics which President Jimmy Carter is opposing. No wonder why the Lords of poverty foreign NGO's are opposing it vehemently still today. They just want to buy their brand of "democracy" or as Ex-President Carter said oligarchy of their like in Ethiopia with their money!

(Comment:- A US Politician once said "all politics is local" How true! Ethiopia is moving fast. Unless politicians realize the sooner and come up with a plan to address issues like what the article is telling us, there will be many Adwa all over Ethiopia. No one can stop people from wanting to move out of the poverty shackle. Not in woyane/eprdf time at the very least! The message is have a capable bureaucracy to lead the GTP-II campaign in every city and town! Another dismal performance like GTP-I during GTP-II will not be acceptable by many!)

    Out of the Bretton Woods
When China proposed the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in late 2013, it hoped to offer a regional alternative to the Bretton Woods ...The similarities between the AIIB, the IMF, and the World Bank are apparent. But there are a few key differences. Western aid and development efforts are geared toward spreading liberal democracy and their own institutional frameworks. China, on the other hand, has stuck to its policy of distancing itself from the domestic affairs of other nations. In fact, the AIIB’s Articles of Agreement have remarkably similar (and broad) operating guidelines to banks within the Bretton Woods framework, but bar members from influencing political affairs.

The secret to Ethiopia's counterterrorism success
After the fanfare accorded to the United States President Barack Obama by Kenya, the last stop was Ethiopia. Of grand symbolic importance, Obama's visit to East Africa was clearly historic, as he is the first sitting US president to do so...

National Endowment for Democracy is first ‘undesirable’ NGO banned in Russia
Washington-based nonprofit funded largely by US Congress, is the first banned group under a law against ‘undesirable’ international organisations...[Why is NED despised almost everywhere it is involved? If promoting democracy is its real intent why are countries that have experience NED help/involvement mired in trouble or barring them one by one? Time to rethink NED's imported democracy good or bad is going to be always bad! Dr Merara an opposition figure from Ethiopia who may have been trained by NED recently failed to even pick his voting card in time and did not vote at all in the recent election. Is this what NED can be proud off?]

Kenya Airways blames tourism slump for record losses
