Eritrea spurs insecurity in the Horn of Africa

Lying flat in Mogadishu while bullets thudded into the wall behind which we were cowering, an American buddy and I were discussing what to do about the chaos that is Somalia... What has happened since is a sad failure of one of the most promising new nations in Africa. Instead of emerging as an example of what can be achieved, Eritrea is now entrenched as a problem whose name always pops up when there is trouble in the Horn of Africa.

Comment: Is this a growing pain brought by the fast expansion of service or simply...? What kind of expansion is ZTE and many of the experts involved in this 2 billion dollar worth project doing to have an issue with such low number of users? We hope this is not a case of milking the cow by creating artificial bandwidth bottleneck to demand more equipment purchase! Do not blame us for saying this, we have seen what ENRON did here in the USA!

Hydroelectric Project Environment

Ethiopia has a huge potential for hydropower development. It’s a generation capacity is estimated at 45,000 MW. However, so far, the utilization of this potential is limited to 2,000 MW which is less than 4.5 % of the existing potential. Despite the availability of such huge hydropower potential, currently access to electricity in Ethiopia is only about 35% and only 5,189 towns and villages out of 7,000 are electrified.
