Ethiopia PM accuses Eritrea of kidnappings
ADDIS ABABA (Reuters) - Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi accused Eritrea on Tuesday of abducting dozens of Ethiopian miners from the country's northwest, in a potential escalation of tension between the arch-enemies."They (Eritrean government) recently kidnapped more than 100 young miners who were mining gold in our country's northwest. And in the northeast, they killed some tourists and kidnapped others," Meles said, the latter referring to the January raid. PM Meles govt ought to explain to the country and the people living on the border area why the current status quo is what they have to live with given the alternative. The govt needs to talk to the people! the premier needs one more tour to meet the people and hear their anguish! If people can not dig the dirt and plow the field in peace, we are not sure if the current status quo is any good!. May be we need to reestablish the 25KM no man zone! That will be "temtatagn!". This abduction apparently happened a while back and lastmonth incursion in to western Eritreaby the EDF was in response to this.
The extremists may be telling you otherwise but the fact is Waldeba Monastery is not affected negatively by the Sugar farm Development in Western Tigrai!

Amb Araya Desta of Eritrea Statement at the Informal Consultation with UN Sanctions Committee
This is the fourth time that my delegation is holding this type of informal consultations with the Committee. These were under the Chairmanship of the Philippines in 2006, South Africa in 2007 and under Your Chairmanship last July...
As they say the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.Mr Araya Desta, you could have avoided all the appearance had you followed the rule of law instead of the rule of the jungle. Stop aiding terrorists and stop causing mayhem in the Horn of Africa and you can visit Asmara four times instead of the UNSC! What can’t be cured must be endured

ETHIOPIA became landlocked in 1992, when its Red Sea coast was lost to the new state of Eritrea. It lost access to its former ports soon afterwards.
But losing the coastline has not scuppered Ethiopia’s merchant fleet. The state-owned Ethiopian Shipping Lines (ESL) has eight ships afloat and nine under construction in China... Travel Warning to Eritrea!
